A Love Blessed by the Stars

A very long time ago, perhaps longer than anyone knows or cares to acknowledge, there was a lonely star who drifted aimlessly in the vastness of the night. This star looked down upon a nearby planet one night and it saw the scattering of animals amongst it, but there was one in particular that caught its eye; a soft bunny who seemed to be more gentle than the others and incredibly smart. The star pined for her and after quite some time lamented that it couldn't be closer to her, and wished with all its being to be with her, unknowingly becoming more mortal and less ethereal with each wish.

It tried and tried, and wished and wished, until finally the star found itself beginning to fall from the sky. It was unclear how this was happening but it was happy it might be even just a bit closer to her. Each passing moment made the stars joy and anticipation grow into an almost palpable force. While it fell, the pull of this force caused several other stars to begin falling down to the earth as well, but while its brethren landed throughout the land it seemed to land itself in the water where the bunny drank, unsure just where its brethren had landed. The pure magic of its dearest wish to be with the bunny turned that water into a form of magic and as she drank she felt drowsiness overcome her, not seeing the now fully humanoid starry prince emerging from the water as she herself changed to be humanoid as well, now bearing the blessing of the stars.

When she awoke in his arms she was quite confused, but all she could do was gaze into the gorgeous starry pools that were the eyes of the beautiful man. As he told her his story and how his love for her had led to these events, she couldn’t help but get lost in the purity and depth of his emotion for her and found herself falling in love with him too. She had never been interested in other bunnies, something deep inside her had told her that she should wait. No other creature had enraptured her like this, but this man had awoken something deep inside her.

Finally he was able to touch her and they could love each other even if it was just for a small time. He was so happy his heartstar glowed through his clothes becoming clear as day through the fabric. He kissed her softly but with passion and her body shimmered into stars, bearing patterns just as he. He couldn’t be happier as he looked at her, even if this was the only time, he was happy to hold and see her.

It seemed their time wasn't so limited though, as days turned into weeks and neither turned back to what they once were.The area around them also began to change, the very air gaining the glittering twinkle of stars as the lake’s blessed magic continued changing its surroundings. The pool of water was now full of stars and constellations, visible even in the bright light of day. They spent many a day and night together, enjoying each other’s company and living a simple life. He even built her a house and she in return gave him a home and eventually they laid together and their efforts bore them a child. When this child was born though, it made the prince’s heart ache again. He missed the stars of his birth terribly and it drove him into a deep melancholy. His love hated to see him in such a state, so she told him he could return to the heavens he descended from. This brought true joy to him for but a moment before he saw the flaw in her offer. While he had been born of the stars and could easily return to them, she was born of the land and as such she could not come with him. This saddened him even more as he looked at their newborn son seeing in him the sky he so missed but not wanting to deprive him of a father in his life for who knew how long he would be gone and if this blessing they had would endure their separation. No, he wouldn't do that to them - so instead he stayed and was happy in many ways if empty in others.

Yet he seemed to weaken more and more over the years as his glow grew dimmer and dimmer and a sickness began to take hold of him. He knew he had to leave his maiden and son and return to the sky or he would burn out and fade away like many of the great elder stars he had witnessed suffer such fates. With his heart heavy and broken he left his family with many tears, kisses, and love to take back to the stars and feed among the galaxies. Once he got there he found himself slowly filled with more and more power, his strength returning. Yet he never allowed himself to forget his family, or the promise he made as his son’s broken hearted eyes followed him as he ascended. A promise to return and hopefully never leave again. This promise caused a new miracle in him. He felt a great magic course through him as his heart weeped for his lover and family and screamed this promise to the cosmos, resonating even to the heart of the vast expanse and bringing back with it the ancient magics that formed all of the cosmos. His heart's wish was so strong again that the meteors and debris that littered space began to gather around him before moving towards the planet that was his new home, creating an archipelago of islands high in the sky that would be inhabitable to life where he and his lover could be and he would still be able to draw on the energy of the cosmos to sustain himself.

This would be their true home, he thought as he shot back down to the earth-like planet and retrieved his family to come with him to forge this new land. Yet an ancient voice whispered in his heart to find the others, and so he did. He travelled the world to find the other stars that fell with him, all now with their lovers as well. It was a beginning of a bright new future for everyone as they all had starry, shimmering eyes of hope as they looked upon their unique children and the future of their new world.
