What is a Puffitt/Florion?

Keep in mind this species is still largely a work in progress, and still being adapted to its Aermerean home. Some traits and Rarities are subject to change.

Florions begin their lives as a Puffitt growing on a nursery plant in the Asterace Field hidden deep in the Onagra Mountains. You might be asking what a Puffitt is - well, it's a soft fluffy puff with a little leaf bottom, cushioned by a small green pad called a bounce. They basically are a fluffy seed, and are essentially a baby Florion. A Puffitt grows uninterrupted until they are about the size of an adult's fist and are ready for the next stage in their lives at which point they begin to glow and release a scent that calls to the person who they are meant to be with. When that person finally comes to the Field and picks their Puffitt its eyes open for the first time, taking in the face of the person who will become the center of their world.

All that a Puffitt needs is plenty of natural sunlight, water as necessary, and - most importantly - love. They are also known to enjoy the occasional sugary treat from time to time. After receiving enough affection from their partner a Puffitt will transform into a Florion. This is very important. You have to give it love and attention to get it to grow up into the cute flower lions, named Florions.

Florions average out at two feet tall and are extremely loyal and protective of their partners. Florions breed by entwining their tails and releasing spores from their tail puffs. The spores are carried by the wind back to the Asterace Field where they combine to form a new nursery plant or sometimes even several nursery plants but rarely. (Breeding is not available at this time. Florettes can also breed in this way)

Sometimes when something happens to the owner a Puffitt will mature before its time resulting in a green fur colored Florion. Usually the owner/partner is put in danger or hurt and it prompts the Puffitt to protect it by evolving early. These are considered preemies and this stunts their magic and growth but otherwise they are healthy. They always have green colored fur.

There are slightly different traits and features for Puffitts/Florions based on gender. You will find this information below.

Male Puffitts have three petals on each side of their body and a total of six leaves around the base of their body; four in the front and two in the back. They do not have pronounced eyelashes and the bouncy base of their body is more exposed than their female counterparts.

Male Florions have a hair tuft in the middle of their forehead, the tips of which occasionally match the color of the fur on their belly and inner ear. Their fur is less fluffy and more wavy than their female counterparts along with males having longer tails and lacking pronounced eyelashes. They have two leaves at the base of the puff on the end of their tail.

Female Puffitts have a cluster of petals on each side of their body, each containing two large petals and five small petals. They have a total of eight leaves around the base of their body with five in front and three in back. They have prominent eyelashes and a less exposed bouncy base than their male counterparts at the base of their body.

Female Florions have a curled tuft of hair the same color as their petals in the middle of their forehead gathered by a small bow. Their fur is much fluffier and curlier than their male counterparts along with having shorter tails and prominent eyelashes. They have three leaves at the base of the puff on the end of their tail.

Traits in General/Gender Neutral

Puffits are very fluffy and tend to be light colored in various shades of white or cream. A Puffit's petals are the same color as the petals that make up the mane of the Florion it becomes. The same is true for a Puffitt's leaves when it becomes a Florion.

A Florion's mane has no physical difference between males and females. The coloring of a Florions belly is the same as its inner ears. The same is true for their paw pads and heart noses and the hearts on their backs between their wings, all of which are commonly varied shades of pink.

. A Florion's heart glows when they are either receiving love from their partner or giving it back to them. Puffitts will shimmer when receiving love. A Florion's wings, while not capable of full flight, do allow them to flutter jump, control their falls, and glide.

Petal rarity is based on shape. (Chart in progress) Petals come in all sorts of varieties of coloration reminiscent of members of the Asteraceae family of flowers, most commonly in a single color or in two shades of the same color. It is more uncommon to find a Florion with petals that are accented with a color differing from the main color and more rare still to find one with multicolored petals. Almost all Florions come from Asteraceae in the wild. But it's said if a Bloompuff adopts a Puffitt it will adopt the flower of the Bloompuff, making unique Florions not normally possible.

Leaves are usually green with varied shades of green being uncommon and different colors being rare. Puffitts and Florion tail puffs are most frequently light colored, usually a shade of white or cream. Uncommon variants are darker shades such as greys and rare variants are more vibrant or pastel shades.

Hearts and pads are found primarily in shades of pink or red with other colors being exceedingly rare to find on a Florion. A Florion's fur is generally a shade similar to that of the corolla of the flower they are modeled after with dissimilar colors being rare.

Most Florions do not have markings in their fur. The appearance and varieties of fur markings are still being evaluated and their rarity will be released to everyone when they are established.
