THE HIVE
ONE STEP into the city and the sight is enough to grant you the WARMEST, HONEY-LIKE, AND INSPIRING welcome that you’ve ever received. |
Buildings extending high over the clouds, rays of sunshine reflecting upon the smooth surface of the roads, every wire on every pole having the cleanest connections and bonds-- not with a single hint of tangled disruption. The utilities and streets are well-kept. No light flickers incorrectly during the night. The place seems proper. The buzzing of workers and vehicles fill the atmosphere, and the speech of every bug lasts for a fleeting moment, yet adds to the friendly and welcoming vibe. It’s almost as if the Hive itself is charismatic, not just its people. Business is booming. The economy is thriving. The residents are truly living, not just surviving. Busy. Active. Always on the move. The center of the world. Out of the many bugs, there seems to be the outsiders-- the troublemakers. They reside in the alleys, the nooks, the crannies. Even if it’s clean and organized, it’s still dangerous. Scientific and technological advancements are at the heart of the Hive, but that means those with harmful or morally grey intent are conducting their own research, producing their own goods, and connecting in underground systems. Like a spider tending to their own unique web, hiding in wait. THIS IS THE HIVE. |
LEADER | THE QUEEN OF AUXA
CLASSIFICATION: Hive.mind(“Queen”, 1027) ORIGIN: The Colony ACTIVE NAMES: the Queen of Auxa, the Hive Queen, Our Lady, the Queen INACTIVE NAME: Nora Dextrose The Queen of Auxa is the head of the Hive. She manages the rate of the growing Worcimex population by being the Love Bullet provider. All Hive housing, residency, transit, and transportation are managed by the Queen. She does not often leave the capitol tower of the Hive. In the Queen’s past life, she used to be a Toxic Weapons Constructor in the old Colony. This was when she had been referred to as “Nora,” a reckless and messy woman with little to no creative capabilities-- purely practical, nothing more, nothing less. When the old Colony’s land burned down during the “Reprogramming,” Nora had to retreat to the Hive. Nora struggled to become accustomed to the new environment due to her previous standing with the old Colony. At the time, the shock and discontent she felt about her true home being destroyed tied up her heart, so she merely wandered aimlessly. It wasn’t long before she decided to set up shop in one of the underground black markets of the Hive, providing any weapon that her hand could craft. Eventually, Nora had met the old Queen in the alleys of the markets. Nora was delivering scraps and materials to another shop-owner, and the Queen was out on a supposedly “classified” duty. Nora refuses to speak on her relationship with the old Queen, hiding the details from the public (however, her ancestors know all.) |

HOLIDAYS & FESTIVITIES
WIREUP AND WIREDOWN
Since the Hive is the region that manages the upkeep of technology, electronics, and digital connections, it’s a part of their yearly routine to put up and take down all the cords, wires, as well as changing outlets and other electric energy sources that may be present in the city. This is both a technical process, as well as a celebration for the next upcoming season! BEFORE SPRING|WIREUP Spring is where Worcimex have the most amount of energy, so they spend some of it towards putting up new wires around the city and in their homes. The remainder of this energy after the (somewhat) hard work is spent into the Wireup Fair. There are a few dedicated Worcimex that help set up and host the Wireup Fair. Each attraction is hand-crafted by the hosts and volunteers as a way to show off their creative endeavors and personal flavor. These attractions rotate frequently, or whenever a Worci has a fully functional and new game, ride, merchandise, or performance to showcase during the Fair. The Wireup Fair also serves as a career fair, particularly for Fair volunteers! Since they help host and set up the fair, it’s equally used as an in-person portfolio for what they can do or make. Volunteers create agreements with the current Wireup Fair host in order to run their own individual events or buildings to showcase their capabilities, and some recruiters or hiring agents will come to the fair solely to see these brilliant (or unbrilliant?) works created by fair volunteers. | BEFORE WINTER|WIREDOWN Worcimex need to disconnect all electronic sources to preserve energy of the city, and just incase of power outages during the frequent heavy winter snowstorms of the Hive. After wiring down, Worci will have huge feasts right before Winter officially begins! Groceries, shops, and restaurants keep their stock incredibly high to accommodate for these feasts, and for the Worci that want to purchase bundles of food to store for heavy snowfall. The feasts themselves traditionally include a hot pot, meats, and fall-grown vegetables. For the Worcimex that don’t want to indulge in too much food before the next season, they may instead opt for a few bowls of soups and broths as their entire celebratory meal during Wiredown. During the time period of Wiredown, Worcimex will wait for the very first day of snow. The timing of the snow’s arrival has been symbolized as a measure of how busy the next year will be. If the snow arrives sooner than usual, it’s believed that the following year will be packed with projects or jobs to complete. If the snow arrives later than usual, it’s then believed that the following year will be easygoing and relaxed. |
THE WEB LIGHT FESTIVAL
One of the unforgotten World.control() Worcimex across all of Auxa is Aranea, a distant memory of a woman that lingers the conversations of many Worci. This Worci was interpreted to be spider-like, the mistress of hunt and secrecy, a fierce but elegantly sneaky and devilish creature that could secure a meal for herself at any given moment. Those in the Hive have a much higher dedication to their fellow World.control() rulers and gods, and the Web Light Festival is proof of that; hosting an extravagant lightshow to memorialize the stories of the spider, a hopeful endeavor that maybe one day she would step onto the surface of Auxa to share her presence and techniques of the past. The streets and sidewalks get covered in ground lights with luminescent tape connecting each individual ground light to at least another one or two nearby. This connection of lights continues onwards until it reaches Marshall Mellow, the center of the city. The street lights are instead replaced with colorful stage lights, and all of the wires and cords are coated with more vibrant tape. The Hive itself becomes a delicately organized web with faithful wishes that Aranea would land and take home in these webs. Festivities are boundless for about a week or so, as Worci in the Hive participate in endless competitions like sports (or e-sports), marathons, food eating and food making contests, and so forth. Many of the Worcimex may opt to try out more traditional means of gaining ingredients for food, participating in planned hunts under the Queen’s regulations and supervision. Children are frequently seen playing Hide & Seek at Marshall Mellow, trying to win the most extravagant prize of all: sugar plums! |
NOTABLE LOCATIONS
These inns are massive in both height and width, allowing for an abundance of rooms to rent, several lounges, special facilities like pools, arcades, theaters, and medical services, and even their own mini-malls located right inside of the inns. Some inns are significantly smaller in size, only housing up to ten rooms and a small cafe, but these ones are often located in the Burrow. Each inn is adorned with sleek marble floors and honeycomb motifs. Each of the inn rooms have dark walls, accented with gold and beige borders. All items in the room are dark as well, and it is entertainingly bothersome to try to find a uniformless Worci in there. Inn employees are trained to provide quick, well-mannered service and proper communication skills. Many of the employees are reviewed as charismatic and bright. The quiet workers are often labeled as “pleasant to be around, even if they’re not as chatty.” Some delicacies and snacks are provided, a majority being sweet or salty. A Worci-favorite snack is the “Eummi” (pronounced “You-Me”), a small honeycomb shaped dumpling, consisting of a several thin layers of lightly sweetened edible wax filled with miscellaneous tropical fruits (akin to pineapples and rambutan). | HONEYCOMB INNThe most common hotel chain in all of Auxa.
THE CAPITOL TOWERThe furthest north point of the Hive, where the Queen resides, as well as other administrative bugs that support her in her job. It acts primarily to serve for conferences, meetings, and storage of important documentation amongst its own library and vaults. It may even be considered a law firm, as many Worci involved in law dream to someday attend and work at the academy in the Capitol Tower. | MARSHALL MELLOWHalf-meadow and half-park, the center of the Hive.
