This foreign world is known to its people as “Amaiera”. This planet is one of a steampunk-esque era, with a constantly progressing human race. Cities, automatons, technology, advanced weapons, artificial limbs and human enhancements, even flight all exist here, of course, powered by steam and Aether. It has two continents - Anoth and Opela. Opela is the larger of the two.

There are three major oceans. The Unresting - separating the two continents. The Fair - the calmest waters, making up the northern part of the planet. And The Abyss - an area of water deemed too dangerous to explore, taking up the entire southern part of the planet.

Most of the RP takes place in Canborough and Portguard. There are a few small villages surrounding it.  This is where all characters start off. You are restricted to this area until plot introduces the other areas. If you have any questions, please ask.

More on the world and its properties will be added soon in a journal.

Current noteworthy locations:

Opela

Canborough
The capital of Opela. It is the most sprawling metropolis in this world. Here, there is train access to almost every other major city, and even an airboat to Anoth. Here, it is prosperous and many advancements are made for technology and society... However, there is also a darker underground to it. Crime, black markets, thievery and murder. It can be dangerous if you do not tread the best paths.

Portguard
The nearest large town to the big city. It is an old trade route, located on the bay. After airboats were invented, it was used mostly as a docking station. However, it started to gain a bad reputation for a multitude of reasons. Now, it is broken down, its people shady and has a generally eerie feeling to it.

Ord Thicket
A large, dense forest. It is rumored that all of its trees are one connected organism, the heart of it being one large tree. It is extremely dangerous. People have attempted to cut paths through the forest for convenience, but every time, the growth comes back within a day, sometimes less. It swallows basically anyone who walks too far into it. Some say that it is to protect whatever truly lies in the middle.

Hubor's Chain
Inaccessible by foot due to being surrounded by Ord Thicket. It seems to not be as dangerous however, harboring some wildlife. The islands are hot, but filled with fruit and other plants that are high in value due to it being difficult to obtain.

Seafront
A small beach town. A great getaway from city life, and seen as a vacation spot for much of Opela.

Eidan Plains
Generally uninhabited. It was a popular place to mine, having many important minerals and gems, before people discovered the nasty side-effects of doing so. Some people still risk it, however.

Silent Expanse
The world's largest desert. It only seems to be taking over more and more land, growing quickly. It is also possibly the hottest place on Amaiera, and one of the most deadly. Many of its animals and insects have evolved to become large, hardy, and dangerous. Rarely will any human pass through here.

Halir Summit
The highest peak in the world. Few people have been to the top.

Twin Basins
Two large lakes separated by a strip of land. One of the biggest clean water sources. It has many unique species of sea creatures. Rumor has it that there is something beautiful and interesting in the middle of the strip of land, but no one has ever specified what.

Staxen Taiga
On the opposite of the spectrum, one of the coldest places on the planet. The most northern area is completely frozen over.

A government-established camp filled with scientists and military workers.

Anoth

Hoth
The capital of Anoth. It is smaller than Canborough, though is slightly cleaner and less crowded, and also less crime.

Sable Institute & Library
This is the most prestigious school in Amaiera. Just about everything is taught there, though, it is rather expensive. The library holds the worlds most extensive collection of literature, and as such is the best place to learn about the world and its contents.

Mumbling Fjord
A large canyon. It is about 2000 metres deep and 10 miles wide. The bottom of much of it consists of water washing in from the ocean. It is said that this extends into an ocean trench, which may possibly be the deepest place in the world.

The Gazing Crater
100 years prior to the story, there was a large meteor that strike this part of the planet, leaving a complex crater. It took out multiple towns. No one has explored the area since because of the Aether leaking, it has become extremely dangerous for those still choosing to live near it.

Ruins of Stillgrove
A small city that existed partially where the meteor had struck. All that is left of it is some destroyed buildings, and the mementos of many families.

Roguecairn
The closest town to exist to the Gazing Crater. It has gained a bad reputation, as many people believe the nearby excess Aether effects the citizens - although it has not been proven.

Evaa Cay
A beautiful, jungle island. A small tribe of people live here, away from society.

Eran Prairie
The land of savannahs, claiming some of its own unique species. Unfortunately, many are hunted for their distinctive features.

The Hinterlands
Generally unexplored by people because of it being cut off by both mountains, a lake, and quite a few rivers. It is on the colder side.

Brolquest Bog
One of few swamplands. Filled with water, life, and interesting fungi and plant matter.
