The Shattering of StoneClan

The Shattering of StoneClan

Tales of a clan's last days.

"When The Great Stone split, it was over."

Background

Seldom knowledge remains of the truth of StoneClan's last days after Cinnamonswirl died. No cat still lives who saw it through. But stories, passed through the generations, remain.

The Shattering of StoneClan

You would like to hear about my parents? Well, I was born in the most terrible times: the Shattering of StoneClan.
After Swansong and Cinnamonswirl passed, the clan had no healer and no spiritual guide. Steadystar insisted on waiting for a proper omen to appoint a successor, but none were revealed to him.
More and more monsters came to the valley, and cats began to be trapped or injured with more frequency. Elder queens tried to use the herbs that they had left, but there was much knowledge that had been reserved to The Mysteries, and they were lost.
Prey left, and when the trees started falling, the clan retreated to the sparse meadows uplands.
When The Great Stone was split, it was over. Their numbers depleted by illness and cages, the warriors scattered. The deputy and some of the strongest stayed to hold the territory, but some families, including my parents Hazelfern and Nuthatch, left--to the barns to beg for shelter, or to the Twolegs, or somewhere beyond.
And Steadystar?

Thrushfur to her two young kits

Well, what happened to Steadystar?

I never met him. My parents wouldn't speak of him to me, but I could hear them discussing in hushed voices late into the night.

Thrushfur

By the time I returned to the territory as a spirit, Steadystar was gone and the camp abandoned.

Cinnamonswirl

Never speak that name to me again.

Charlie

All I want to know is how to make that foxheart disappear a second time.

Wandering Paws

Some say Rubblestomp fought and killed him for his ninth life, but StarClan wouldn't grant it to him.

An old Stones rumor

I heard that he took his last stand against the monsters on the Great Rock itself, and was struck down by a bolt of lightning! My grandfather saw it himself, I swear!

The grandchild of a liar

He probably went to be a kittypet, tail between his lags for the miserable way he led his clan.

Yes he did!

He would rather have lay down and died of stubbornness than do that. Heck, he probably did.

No he didn't.

Steadystar?

I never left.
