Profile
He's just another lost boy with hollow eyes, reaching for the sun- and if we're all stories in the end, then he must have been written to be another tragedy: with iron wings and rust, he is Icarus falling once again. I loved him against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.
So, throughout life, our worst weaknesses and meannesses are usually committed for the sake of the people whom we most despise.
Marshal Troitovich Menshikov comes from a long line of royalty and high class. His father Troit currently being the Grand Duke, Marshall has many family members consisting of private guardsmen, dukes, lords, and duchesses: all of which are highly respected, well known, and trusted. Most have a high pride and upstanding patriotism for their country, considering how long they have been in a state of relative power and relative power. Its almost as if not one of them have been ambitious: and while thats not true, its very well known for a power hungry member of the Menshikov family to be taken out by another Menshikov themselves. While Marshall is not entirely the same boat with his patriotism, he is dedicated and willfull to his country, as well to the one he was assigned to protect: the rather disliked Prince Romanov.
Marshall functions similar to a praetorian guard or a torguud, except Marshall is only at this one man's disposal. He's essentially the head of those under Prince Romanov: and while mostly cleared from military duty, Marshall is not only his knight, but also a guard, an advisor, a protector, watcher of the house, commander of the servants, public relations, among others: he's basically the Prince's right hand man. If there's a job, its most likely Marshall behind it, on top of it, in front of it, and watching it from the shadows.
Having been the man behind all these smooth operations, Marshall is not one to goof around. Much like the rest of his family, he is extremely uptight. Incredibly stern and curt, Marshall is on a no-nonsense policy. No nicknames, no goofing around, nothing. He seems to have no friends purely for his lack of association with such nonsense people, including the people who heavily drink, are rude to women, slack off on jobs, or lie excessively. For this reason its a wonder he chose Prince Romanov as his to follow: as Marshall commands respect, and boy oh boy does he get it. He's respected by most, if not all, purely for his dilligence with the Prince, but also respected for his standing by his morals and utmost loyalty. Some may even consider Marshall great, humble, or even the magnificent: as he seems to be respected by all, loved those who work with him, and hated by his enemies.
Part of this respect comes from his life's choices. Having grown up under his well respected father, Marshall happened to always be around the halls of the king's palace. Even as a young child, Marshall wasn't one to immediately rush outside to play with butterflies: he enjoyed sitting and watching what the grown-ups would do, and challenging any child he saw with his sturdy 'walking' stick that he had attached to his hip like a sword. As soon as he laid his eyes upon the current commoner Romanov, he soon found whom he would guess to be his worst enemy. The child was a brat- even not being upper class, he sure acted as such. Marshall always followed him around, most of the time to yell at him himself: but most of the time to try and keep him out of trouble so none of the adults would see him being so terribly troublesome.
Marshall had decided he would become a knight: as even though knights were a lower position in the higher class charts, such a position would allow him to stick around the castle and make sure Romanov wouldn't cause more trouble for his father and the king that Marshall believed he was worth. So, at the age of seven, Marshall made his mind up to be a page and went through with training to become a knight and a guardsman of the king. Originally having the idea to serve under the current king, it was quite a shock to hear when the king had fallen ill and his pester of a commoner, Romanov, had been crowned a prince. Not falling back on his idea at the age of sixteen, Marshall had remained determined and had decided instead to dedicate to going under the now Prince Romanov: after all, to Marshall, it was more important to keep your friends close but your enemies the closest.
As a squire, Marshall had already become an almost automatic favourite among the other knights. Now being the "squire of the body," he was incredibly trusted and he accepted his menial tasks such as running errands, maintaining upkeep, and as well as working in the kitchen. Amusedly enough, he found himself enjoying most of his tasks. Marshall began to enjoy spending time around the equines and began to become rather good at cooking things such as stew and soup. While incredibly lousy at any moment of jousting, Marshall took his tasks and did them dilligently. During this time he also grew more reinforced with his stature and personality, being reminded of his abilities with weapons and skill: such as his atheltic abilities, endurance, and tenacity in situations where there were lack of sleep, hunger, or proper clothing or living conditions.

Marshall at this time also got reminded of his manners and also learned how to play music- something he was also incredibly horrid at- and learned how to properly dance, which is something he currently helps the Prince Romanov try and master. After many years of travelling and honing his abilities and skills, Marshall returned to become a fully fledged knight with full marks and honor. It was at this time when he returned that he offered his loyalty to the Prince Romanov: the Prince had taken this and immediately attempted to 'turn the tables' on Marshall, as Romanov was in a higher place of power due to Marshall's refusal of becoming a Grand Duke.
Currently Marshall does reside as the Prince's right hand man. While the Prince would never admit it, Marshall always gives tips and tricks about being a prince and how a situation would go if he were king, considering his family background and the like. He attemps to ease the Prince's worries and stress as best as possible, hence his multitasking with jobs. While Marshall is terrible with showing any emotional caring qualities, he does attempt to care as much as possible: which is once in a blue moon getting the Prince's favourite meal or finishing up paperwork the Prince fell asleep doing or abandoned. Marshall is loyal to the Prince and really no one but the Prince: he's incredibly obedient despite being unintentionally rude and practically emotionless, and is not someone anyone would willingly mess with. While he may not show what he thinks through his speech or his actions, Marshall has big opinions he either keeps completely silent about or is utterly vocal to no end. While he resides as a guard, he prefers to be called a knight all the while.
His mother is deceased, and his father currently holds the power of the Grand Duke: in some later time Marshall may be required to take over his position, but as his father is in good health and in good reputational standing, Marshall is allowed to do as he pleases. Marshall may possibly have younger siblings but none older
He has an extreme love of learning, enjoys being right, works very well with horses, and dislikes coffee. Marshall has a passion of collecting strange and weird sword replicas, one of his favorites being the Lobera replica of the sword of the king Saint Ferdinand III of Castile, and one of the others being Joyeuse which was famed to be owned by Charlemagne.
Szczerbiec, Durandal, Excalibur, and Grus happen to be some of the other swords he owns. Most of the time, Marshall can be seen with his Excalibur replica, or his own special forged sword- similarly made to a knight's templar sword, Marshall has one custom made with fitted with a white, creamy grip. The length of his sword is pretty long, ranging about almost three feet with the blade alone: the handle is about half a foot and the scabbard is about the two of those combined. The handle has a mirrored knights helmet and the guard is ornate: as well as the blade, which has etchings and artwork on some parts. The blade itself is double edged and is with a gold tone, as well as the scabbard: which has two rings at the throat and one halfway down.
v. Oh, boy born of constellations,
you will pick up your sword and shield,
just remember that even the gods forget themselves.
