Clara is a plane strongly controlled by both directives and emotions.  Her mood can make or break a meeting, though thankfully she's more often optimistic and friendly than foul and annoyed.  She's quiet around most strangers, but get her talking and you'll discover she's quite the social butterfly.  Old habits die hard, and being silent is one engrained into her since a young plane.

Her first and foremost passion is racing.  It is her life and love before anything else.  Her spunky, friendly personality aids her in the sport, as she views racing both as acompetition and a community.  Without it, she must fall back on her secondary directive: love.

The plane is a passionate, tender, loving soul who seeks acceptance and someone to call her own.  In this case, that love of her life is Foxtrot.  The adoration and loyalty she has does not border the brink of obsession, but surpasses it.  When she's not racing or preparing to race, Foxtrot is her number one concern.  If he's not there for her to fawn over, and there is nobody else in the vicinity to talk to, she very quickly becomes irritable or silent.  If irritable, she becomes a dangerous plane.

Luckily, the war directive within Clara is burried deep down.  In the right circumstances, her protective nature creates quick and easy access to this section of code.  It's gotten her into trouble before, and no doubt will get her into trouble again.  Behind her calm frame is instinct to injure.  Killing itself is reserved for self defense and only in the worst of cases, but if provoked Clara can certainly pack a punch.

Clara began a propeller driven plane with design elements taken from several models.  Her cockpit was further back on her nose, allowing for a sleeker appearance rather than a military aura.  Her fuselage could be best described as the nose and cockpit of an F-18, the tail of a P-51, and the sharp sleek prop of an NXT.  As strange as it may sound, it gave her an edge in agility and short-distance races.

Her paint at this time was white with a faded blue nose.  Her most recognizable feature, however, were the blue stripes leading into spirals over  and across her tail.

Later in her life, when all settled down again, she was repainted in a smart blue and yellow livery.

⇀ Background

Clara was built to be the child of a military F-18 named Ron and a racing Nemesis NXT named Cathy.  When she rolled off the assembly line and was activated, both parents were shocked to discover their daughter to be mute.  A mistake left the young plane was a voice box that, while replacable, would be more than a hassel to both purchase and repair.  Shortly thereafter, Ron was forced to leave the family to rejoin his ranks in the Air Force.  To Clara, however, she saw her flaw as the problem.

The young plane's time with even her mother was short, as Cathy was diagnosed with a degrading code only a year later.  Her mother quit racing to spend her last few months with her daughter, teaching and caring for her until she passed.  When her mother offlined, Clara was left to the mercy of child services.  She hopped around from foster home to foster home until being kicked to the streets on her own, where she promptly attempted to find a race that would accept her.

She landed a place in a smaller race, and would continue to inch her way up into the big leagues.  After some time she would be invited to a race including the legendary Dusty Crophopper as one of its competitors.  It was during this race that she met her half-sister, Tera, and be invited into Propwash Junction as a guest.  During this time Dottie offered to repair her voice box, enabling her to speak for the first time.  She found friends in Propwash she didn't want to leave...

But ultimately what made her stay was Foxtrot.

The F-18 had been visiting on vacation, and their flirting became a friendship, and their friendship became love.  Foxtrot would choose to abandon his military career for her, going AWOL to keep their relationship.  Besides Foxtrot being a fugitive and a traitor, everything seemed to be going smoothly.  Their love continued to grow and their lives were perfect.

But perfect never lasts long.

In the middle of the night, the government came.  They forcibly took the plane, declaring him a traitor and supposidly cast him off into prison.  Heartbroken, confused, and angered, Clara would attempt to go after the transport carrying her husband away.  Her half-sister, whom she'd formed a close bond with, attempted to stop her.

The battle that ensued would leave Clara flightless and Tera in critical condition.  The damage to her sister would put Tera back in the base she came from: Luke.  While the racer attempted to come along, she was denied clearance and forced to stay in Propwash.  With her lover as good as dead, her wing broken, and her sister halfway across the country, Clara was broken both physically and mentally.

Months passed before anything of importance happened to Clara.  She would refuse to race due to heartache and grief, and only fly to stretch her wings... until Foxtrot returned.
