Statistics.

Description.

Gupuppies are the most populous species on the archipelago, and their culture is dominant throughout. They possess large fish-like tails, broad forearms, slender back legs, and manes. 

Habitat.

Gupuppies are native to the swamp, the main settlement called Guppy Swamp. This is a rather tame area, having been tempered for generations in order to be a perfect oasis for rearing young, and living a peaceful, fulfilling existence. It's not far from Kittyclaw Cay, a mixed settlement o gupuppies and platycats (we'll talk about them later!), which is a popular vacation spot for all. 

Behaviorisms.

Playful, curious, and ingenuitive, gupuppies are arguably the most technologically advanced species out of the four. They often collaborate for problem solving, to the point where maybe more play is taking place than actual business. But, this relaxed lease on life seems to work well for them, as they have a reputation for being incredibly easy-going

Group Organization.

Incredibly social, it is exceedingly rare to come across a lone gupuppy. Should this happen, it's often due to banishment, or by accident (the poor thing got lost). Gupuppies do not pose much of a threat on their own, but in numbers, their strength grows exponentially. 

Hunting & Diet.

Gupuppies are omnivorous, and much of their diet consists of fish, mushrooms, fruits and vegetables. Much of the economy is based on fishing, both small and large scale; Sabbowton has one of the largest ports on the archipelago, with ships crewed by entire teams of gupuppies; Swampstomps and Platycats are also seen mixed in with these crews. Red meat is not often apart of their diet, though it's not unheard of.

Offspring.

Gupuppies hatch in clusters of 2-4 from purses not unlike shark pups. They come out with come basic traits and colors, but often mature into new traits, not to mention what adolescent and adult Gupuppies can alter with potions.

Life Cycle.

They are born able to hear and see, though they are very clumsy in their first few months. By 2 years old, they are able to bumble about, and by 5, they've acquired the majority of their motor skills. They remain juveniles until they are around 20, and reach full maturity by 35-45. This is also around the time their natural markings and traits are fully realized. Over time, arcanic is almost always introduced, and some go into studying this system and language of natural magic. It is not unheard of for gupuppies to completely change their appearance with the help of magic, though it is an intense and time-consuming endeavor- but worth it. Some gupuppies have an innate ability to control arcanic, even as infants, and some are even born with magical traits already. 

With age, a gupuppy's colors will naturally fade, though with proper care and a little bit of arcanic, these colors can be revitalized. The oldest gupuppy ever recorded was over 200 years old, and by then, their colors had receded into a stony grey. Some say that they actually turned to stone, but this was only a legend. 

Upon their death, gupuppies are returned to the swamp, buried in the silt. A very intense mourning period is observed for any lost friend. 

Health.

Gupuppies are both incredibly hardy, but incredibly squishy. They are both incredibly vulnerable compared to, say, a swampstomp, but remain very hardy in the face of adversity. Though, keep them out of the cold. Gupuppies generally don't do well in snow. 

Communication.

They are capable of speech and writing, many even possessing regional dialects or accents. Long distance communication is possible through arcanic or technology; radios, telegrams, etc.

Abilities & Skills.

Potion making.

( MAGIC) Potion making is a coveted and widespread practice in Gupuppy communities. It is used to alter or change appearances and abilities by combining found ingredients.

Arcanic.

( MAGIC)  Adept at the regional flavor of the magical arts, Arcanic is a common studying subject for Gupuppies native or traveling to Sabbowton. 

Swimming.

( PHYSICAL) Gupuppies are excellent swimmers and with that comes an incredible ability to fish, which is possibly the most popular pasttime in all Gupuppy towns.

Origins.

Native to the archipelago, gupuppies have been exlporing the swamp since the dawn of time. They've grown with the land, turning it into a paradise for their kind.
