They are a very distrustful and aggressive being, showing extreme hostility towards any person they come across. This is as a result of the fact that after death, they only remembered the negative aspects of their life - the way people treated them poorly and took advantage of them. This led to them devloping the idea that all people are bad and just want to use them. They have adopted an abandoned castle as their home, and from this point they sometimes attack the nearby villages/towns if someone's bothered them by "tresspassing" in their home, as they tend to see it. Despite all this, if someone somehow managed to befriend them, they would quickly show themself to be incredibly loyal to their friend, willing to do anything the moment they're asked. Though, due to their past experiences in life, getting to be their friend would be quite a tricky task, and even once a friendship is made their paranoia of if their friend actually cares about them, if their friend's just using them, will take over at times, causing them to panic, or lash out purely out of fear of being subjected to the same treatment as they were in their past all over again.

They suffer with chest pains at random points, and sometimes (rarely) they even struggle breathing. They also end up coughing up blood when they experience any strong or sudden emotions - whether it be happiness, sadness, anger, it doesn't matter. Excitement or surprise tends to send them into a coughing fit, as does a mix of fairly strong emotions/emotional confusion. Their coughing tends to cause a signifiant amount of chest pain, whether it be emotionally-triggered or due to sickness. They are also incredibly light sensitive, with this not just being limited to sunlight, and too much exposure to light can cause migraines, sickness, sometimes feeling weak and/or more tired. They also have a naturally cold body temperature, and they struggle to function properly in very cold temperatures as it quickly saps away at their energy. While being drawn to warmth, too much heat also has negative consequences, often causing dizziness, nausea and can even cause them to pass out.

Ever since their death, they are technically an immortal being - they cannot die a second time. This means that despite starvation having some physical effects on them (being weaker, thinner, etc) it will never actually kill them. They can feel pain and be injured, though the injuries do heal quicker than that of a humans. They also have the ability to create a black, almost crystal-like material that is solid and very durable. This material can be used to form shards/weapons that can be thrown, as well as complete objects or potentially even statues.

They woke up, confused and in agony. Their mind foggy and unable to focus on their own thoughts, their vision blurry and unable to fully understand where they really were. They decided to stay laying down, hoping that eventually things would start to get better. As day shifted into night, they found themselves able to see, the headache fading even though the rest of the pain remained. Then they started to regain fragmented memories of what led up to this - memories including their own death. They found shelter under a tree in the foresty surroundings they found themself in, even though moving that far was agonising for them, they had to try.

More memories, clearer ones. They remembered their death, fighting to protect their friends who claimed to be in danger. The warnings for them to stand down, "it's between us and them, you don't need to get involved." But they were their friends, they weren't going to just leave them. ...But their friends left them. They watched the fight, saw the bat-like being get hurt, and fled the scene, leaving their supposed friend to bleed out on the floor with nobody to help. They remember calling for their parents, hoping for someone to help... Nobody. They... didn't remember what their parents actually looked like, actually. As a matter of fact, they didn't even remember their own name.

Eventually they decided they needed to find true shelter, a tree could only do so much to protect their sensitive eyes from the light. It was a slow process to find somewhere where they could stay, along the way sorting through their memories that they could recall, coughing up blood, and questioning their own identity. They didn't remember their old name, though they also weren't bothered by that fact. They realised that, they felt different from whoever they used to be. Their lack of memories emphasised this fact, to them. Eventually they came across an abandoned castle, it looked like people didn't even visit this place, let alone live there, so they decided to call this place their home. They were fine with the castle the way it was, even if it was cold sometimes, so they just left things as they were only making small additions like crafting a nest for comfort, and using one of the easily-accessible side rooms as a hoard for the shinies they found while they were out.
