Theo is covered in short, plush, well-groomed fur, with notably longer fur from his shoulders up and on his tail, and overall he is quite soft to the touch. Curiously, his extremities bear very complex markings. He says they're just his natural pattern. 9 out of 10 doctors disagree. His hair is short but light and airy and tends to stick in many directions regardless of attempts at styling- which he doesn't make. Build-wise, while an average weight for his height, he still appears a little thin and lacks muscle definition
- His hair can be styled in any way, the only criteria is to have the darker color approximately in the front.
- His blood and inner flesh are the same color as his mist/left iris.
On the surface, to friends, and in the general public, Theo is a kind, gentle former doctor. He goes out of his way to offer care and support to those he comes upon in any way he can, and is generally quite positive and optimistic about their issues- so long as there is something to be happy about, at least, as with that in mind he isn't the sort to lie to make others feel better. Although now a little more limited in his capability for physical care after his accident, he does what he can.
In normal interactions, Theo, while not the most talkative, still enjoys company and conversing- though it may be up to the other person to carry the conversation. He's equally at home in comfortable silence, and doesn't become awkward easily. He takes jokes and most types of humour well so long as they aren't meant to hurt others, even if they're on darker subjects, and he's known to interject with skilfully-placed jokes of his own, commonly at his own expense. Furthermore, his ability to exhale a numbing mist makes for a popular party trick.
However, once he lost his arm and was no longer able to upkeep his occupation in the medical industry, he became wracked with grief and loss with both the time he had spent on his job and his lost limb. Due to this he started drinking, just enough to numb the pain he had faced.
Due to already feeling like a burden with his disability, he kept every bit of his emotional baggage and other troubles a secret. Most knew him just as friendly one-armed doctor. It is also because of his fear of burdening others that he won't seek help for any of his issues.
However, once meeting his boyfriend Tyler Calvadores and later his first cousin once removed, Jaquesha Furaha, he began doing what he could to help and make others happy, he got a little out of his slump and began trying to come to terms with everything so he could move on. Still he was no less acquainted with a nice glass of red wine here and there, though he was trying to get out of it.
After the second accident, where he was killed but came back with his gift of Second Chance, he was obviously very shaken, though the discovery of his ability came as a total shock to him and raised his self-esteem immeasurably, as he had found out another way he could bring change to the world even without his old job.
- Fortunately, he's always been right-handed.
- He isn't offended by the terms "stump" or "nub," though he slightly prefers the latter.
- He is off-balance. Due to how long ago the amputation occurred this normally doesn't show as he's adapted to it, but it becomes notable when he holds or carries something.
- He rarely experiences phantom pain nowadays. When he does, the most common sensation is burning.
- He still waves the nub around for gestures/expressions/etc
When someone is on death's door, Second Chance gives them the option - will you decide to leave your life behind and enter into the afterlife, or come back, though not fully the same? Subjects of Second Chance live, but become increasingly more frail as time goes on and die at a younger age. They may also be subject to changes according to their condition upon death - for example, Theodore adapted his Anaesthetic Breath after Second Chance activated on himself. Theodore doesn't choose to use this power, as it simply happens to the patients he tends to.
Theo can choose to use a 'reserve' at the back of his throat to expel a sort of general anesthesia. It can take a while to produce enough to make a difference.
Theo, as a child, lived with his mother Maribella Tinneth and his stepfather Terell Sotiria. He shared a room with his extroverted sister Aaliyah in their upper middle-class house in the suburbs of Bhujiva. He never knew his father, though Maribella would never tire of telling him stories of the 'good old days' when she and Tinneth were together. She was very much still in love with him, it seemed.
He decided he wanted to be a a doctor as a young child, and this desire never really changed. He had a fairly normal childhood, worked hard in school to become a doctor.
Theo became a doctor and started work in a hospital named 'Our Lady Bhujiva's Hospital. During this time, the first traces of his power, Second Chance, were becoming evident, as people who should of died, manage to survive through cardiac arrest, total organ failure and extreme brain trauma. Theo couldn't be happier in the job he was in, as he began to rise the ranks in his job and started to gain a reputation for what seemed to be impossible medical feats. However, this newfound confidence and happiness wouldn't last for long.
On a rush to work one day, Theo was rammed into by a speeding car. He suffered major injuries which included, unfortunately, the loss of his left arm. He was flooded by gifts and flowers in the hospital, given donations and had his story told in newspapers, though he had no optimism for the future.
When he lost his arm he was unable to adjust sufficiently enough to upkeep his previous job- and the passion of his life- which was being a medical practitioner. He tried all he could: one-handed was simply impossible for certain tasks without an assistant, prosthesis never offered the same finesse and familiarity that he felt he needed. This change devastated him, and even though options existed for other healthcare jobs, he became wrapped up in the loss of what he'd worked for combined with the grief of his lost limb, obtaining a job in a homeless shelter which he rarely put effort into.
Having no close family nor friends to fall back on, Theo instead quietly turned to drinking to ease his mind and heart. Not heavily, just enough to blur his thoughts and water down his bitterness and sadness for a while. He was hyper-aware of how unhealthy this was from his profession, both mentally and physically, and this only fuelled his shame and self-pity further.
One day, in the bar that accompanied Casino Calvadores, he met Tyler, the man who owned the casino, who had recognised him from an article. Intrigued by the man's mannerisms and flirtatious attitude, Theo pursued a friendship with him, which quickly turned into a romantic relationship. This brought a newfound stability in his life which was not there before.
Mafia underboss, the Lemon Demon (who he would at one point discover was his long-lost sister's husband) was out for Tyler's blood after an interaction between them led Ezekiel Ebiaseph, the consigliere of the Lemon Demon's, into jail. However, as Tyler and his parents were way too influential, eyes locked onto Theo instead.
At this time, Theo met a very, very interesting woman. Jaquesha Furaha, his second cousin once removed, a mountain of a woman with even more interesting stories to tell. She told him of the Starmaker, of his ancestry connected to the gods, and the powers inherited by their children, and her intentions tor reunite the children of these gods from the old world of StarCentral. Theo, faced by these feats, had no choice but to believe her but remained in a state of shock, and was confused as to why he had no such power.
Tyler met Jaquesha, and upon seeing her power with a blade, begged her to protect Theo for him - and she accepted, even if she hadn't planned on staying as long as she did. As the Lemon Demon sent his own soldiers after Theo, it started to seem like they weren't just there for him. Soon Jaquesha discovered these soldiers had powers of their own - all of them. This marked their start to fight their way up to find the boss himself and discover how they had found these powers.
They had found out from the consigliere himself the source of the soldier's power was a statue in a rural area in the outskirts of Bhujiva. Jaquesha talked to the Lemon Demon himself to negotiate, but was met with hostility and planned to meet up with Theo to destroy the statue themselves, however when running to meet Jaquesha... it happened again.
Theo was hospitalised, hit by a truck driven by a soldier of the mafia. He was pronounced dead at scene. This was when his power, Second Chance, activated on himself, and he was able to revive himself. Tyler was at the scene and they shocked the paramedics by hopping in his limo and speeding away. When the sun had set and they arrived at the statue, they found the Lemon Demon talking about how he would never let Jaquesha destroy the sacred statue - and he started using his Anaesthetic Breath to send him into a haze. They destroyed the statue, freeing the two souls inside which were two goddesses of the old world.
Once this happened, the mafia boss and the Lemon Demon were never seen again. After normality was restored, Jaquesha left back for Valkyrie, in Ameredite.
Tyler and Theo quickly got married, as Theo was becoming increasingly aware of his deteriorating state. They had 18 amazing years together until he died in the year 1970 after a long struggle with mesothelioma. He went to the afterlife, the Seafoam Cities, and met his ancestors, being joined by his husband years later, where he found happiness.
