About
Gerald is the 52nd test subject to live under the 'care' of the Chemist, the corrupt businesshead of a snackfood company that specializes in packaged pastries filled to the brim with undetectable mind-manipulating chemicals. As one of the captive child test subjects, his purpose there is to monitor the effect of the chemicals as they go through the baking process and ensure they don't have devestating side effects that would get the man caught. Which, 4 times out of 5 they do, unfortunately for him and his friends.
G (as he's been nicknamed) takes being the oldest among the test subjects as a serious responsibility. He's compassionate and protective of the others, realizing that they're all each other has. If he can inspire them to keep fighting to survive, then he can feel he's done his job. He hasn't stopped his own fight, even in the light of his health declining. He's always believed in playing the long game, laying low and keeping peace until the time was right to strike, to escape. But as the days pass by and his conditions only worsen, he questions whether such an opportunity will ever come before it's too late for him... As fate would have it, he's got one shot at it. And he won't waste it, whatever it takes.

The Chemist Inheritance
This ability is one introduced to a small line of humanity from a mysterious outside source generations ago. It allows one to observe molecules and matter on a deeper level, and thus understand and manipulate it in mindboggling ways. The degree of power one has over matter depends on their individual compatibility with it, and Gerald in particular has very high natural compatibility. His body manipulates ingested matter as it sees fit (see poison conversion), and he takes in a lot of information about the molecular level about the world subconsiously, often getting insticntual warnings if something is dangerous to him (see Molecular Sensory Aptitude), but without training, a lot of this has gone over his head. Unfortunately, he's gone most of his life completely unaware of the ability and the great potential he's holding within, and that keeps him from wielding it meaningfully.
After recieving the powerboost test from the Chemist, however, Gerald's own ability reaches a new enhanced form: the subconscious observation of molecules and matter becomes much deeper and forefront on a conscious level. Also, through much practice and learning, he's able to consciously alter matter. Can be used to change objects into other forms and create reactions/effects without the use of outside instruments, unlike Andrew (the Chemist proper). The limits to the ability are based on his own understanding/imagination. Since he comes from a very limited education in the test chambers, it's an uphill battle of stepping stones, but he absorbs a lot and builds up slowly.

Not blood related, but during Gerald's youth, Martin left a huge impression on him. They were incredibly close, spending most free time together playing or just comforting each other, until Martin 'died' back when he was 5. Gerald is not aware of Martin's survival, and instead uses him as an inspiration of kindness and nurturing when it comes to the younger test children.
One of the other test children. Ricky's blinding optimism helps balance Gerlad's tipping toward despair, though Gerald has a tendency to underestimate him due to his absentmindedness. He's shocked Ricky's been able to maintain his energy and bubbliness even if the face of the tests, but that dash of normalcy and childish vibrance has helped him to ignore the fast approach of time and the consequences that loom over each of them.
One of the other test children. While Gerlad admires Corrie's fiery spirit, it's also the source of so. Many. Headaches for them. He's tried to teach her that being overly rebellious will only make the guards angrier and their punishments harsher, but she doesn't listen. She hardly ever listens. But that same stubbornness also applies to how loyal she is to her friends, and he can't help but be grateful for that.
One of the other test children. Technically, Dresden is older than G by a year, but G has more years in captivity than him. If Corrie's rebellious spirit drives G insane, well, Dresden takes that and multiplies it by 20. In fact, the other kid has spent so many years in solitary confinement that G barely has the chance to catch up with him between punishments. But when Dresden actually gets to be in the same room as him, he slots in very well to the friend group. G's given up trying to convince Dresden to find a different path, secretly hoping that he'll succeed if just for all the suffering he's been through for it.
One of the latests additions to the test subject children. As a fan of kids, G immediately became local Big Brother to the little guy, especially as he became the subject of a lot of unusual poor treatment fromt he facility. Even as Lethal reveals that he's far from a normal child, G posits that it does not matter, even an alien kid needs to have someone to look out for him. He may have bit off more than he could chew there, though, as the boy is full of surprises that throw him for a loop!
The one responsible for all of their suffering. Gerald hates him full force, and often simply refers to him as 'The Top Hatted Devil.' Sometimes The Chemist will attend their check-ups, and has used the opportunities to belittle the children for his own amusement. Gerald in particular gets a lot of teasing that flies over his head - but he knows it's meant to hurt.
