Redacted is a liar who lives his life on the run. He grew up as an orphan on the streets, picking pockets to get by. He made friends with a gang of other misplaced kids and they rallied together as a makeshift family. He ended up making a deal with a local gang to barter for enough money for the rest of the kids to get train tickets out of their dead-end town at the cost of his freedom, signing his loyalties to the gang for their freedom. He lied and said he had chosen to abandon them because he knew that his friends wouldn't leave him behind willingly if he told them the truth, so he bluffed, threw the money in a case at their feet, and told them to get lost-- that he never wanted to see them again. He joined the gang, planning to leave and skip town himself the first chance he got, but things quickly got complicated as he got in over his head. Redacted found a way to weasel out, but it took a long time and a lot of dirtying his own paws. Now he's a wanted criminal, running away from the law and from his past. He's constantly on the move so he isn't recognized by his old friends or law enforcement, and as a result he's always changing his appearance, name, and the personality he's acting out.

Redacted is, at his core, a very deeply guilty person. He doesn't like how things worked out in his life, and he laments the web of lies he's constantly weaving, but he doesn't see a way out of it. His base personality is stoic and reserved, the kind who leaves others constantly wondering what they're thinking. He comes across as somewhat tired and resigned, someone beaten down by a hard life. His past as a street urchin makes him exceptionally resourceful and he can always find a way to scrape together money, though sometimes this isn't through legal means. He can pick pockets and locks expertly and is proficient in both lying and acting. Redacted, despite his extreme efforts to push everyone around him away and sacrifice himself, deeply wants to connect with someone-- to have someone understand him. However, his lifestyle of being constantly on the move complicates this. Reda is a complicated case, to be sure. A goobie with a troubled past he's constantly running from, Redacted isn't sure when the chase will finally end, nor what will happen when it does.
