⇀ Description

Rupert is perhaps the most serious of the Independence's crewmembers, with the only exception being Ethash K'Torko.  Most of the ship has become accusstomed to his cold exterior and perpetually unsmiling face, as Rupert has no time to joke around.  This being said, he's not a total spoil sport.  He does a good job of at least pretending to tolerate people, and while he rarely shows it he often enjoys the company of characters such as Ekk or Ray.  Deep down he's a gentle and caring soul, willing to sacrifice his own tastes and wishes for the betterment of his crew and ship  

One of the things he will not tolerate, however, are close minded officers who doubt his ability to run a ship just because he is canine.  Having had to deal with a lifetime of such foolish notions that a dog could never be a Starfleet officer, he's learned to ignore their small mindedness and let the insults slide off his back.  Despite this, he is hard set on keeping his crew in line when it comes to such doubts of leadership.  

⇀ Background

Rupert grew up on the planet Spilos for several years of his life, shortly before the Federation offered his father a position on a starship. His parents moved to serve on the Galaxy-Class USS Deity with Rupert in tow.  Following his father's pawsteps, his goal always was to land a place in Starfleet Acadamy.  Of course, being a canine ment the prospect more challenging than a walk in the park.  Rupert had often listened to his father growling about how people wouldn't accept him as an officer of equal rank simply because of his species.  Dog.  Wolf.  They were words the young pup always was wary of.  Knowing he'd have to work twice as hard to land even the chance of going to Starfleet Acadamy, Rupert worked his tail off to be top of the class.

He applied for Starfleet as soon as he possibly could, and shortly thereafter got in.  Facing ridicule because he was canine, Rupert endured bullying and being the butt of many jokes before graduating.  Serving as an ensign to several ships, then eventually a first officer, he finally was offered the job of actually being the captain of not only a starship, but a timeship - the first of its class.  Graciously accepting the offer, he became captain of the USS Independence.  This was not to say being the captain was any easier.  It took many months to gain the full respect of his crew.

Being a captain of a timeship, Rupert travels through time and space to fix anomolies both in the past and future before they happen, or stop others from tampering with time.  That, or they 'clean up' remnents of past missions from the timeship Spiritchaser, whose crew is the first to be called out on a scene at any one time.  Perhaps one of the more noteworthy examples of a mission was a reconnaissance mission in the 34th century.  This was when they encountered two space worthy aircraft sent from Earth - a long since quarentined planet - flying with a distress call from the planet's surface.  This event set into motion the Revolution for Earth, which would go down into history as a key event in Starfleet's timeline.
