Whenever theres a canine in a folklore, he's there for sure. 𝔏ong before life sought the sun there existed a seedling of greed, unnamed, harmless, and fragile. The being sprouted limbs when the first roots entangled and killed their neighbours. And when the first man was born, it cooed.
War has been waged against it since. The gods, resisting their nature, found ways to kill the being. But the earth rebirthed it in protest, each time shaping greed in the provoking image of contemporaneous Envy. In its first death, it was reformed into a fragrant colony of flesh-eating plants. From the second death rose the first Peacock, who danced with near every pheasant until each bore feathers of royal blue.
No fairer beauty existed but this invisible angel, whose golden tipped wings demanded the name Mida, for the gold-fingered king in Phrygia doomed to lonesome wealth.
The newest angel kneels to a young magician, drab and grey as bone. He whispers primordial secrets in his ear, and the flushed half-cat knows not the curses he brings. The horror!
