Caring, Dependable, Optimistic

Cypresswish generally is a very optimistic and responsible cat with a heart of gold. They really are very caring and they always will aim to make someone feel better if they are upset for whatever reason. In their eyes, the world generally falls on the positive side of things and so there will always be a way out of problems or deal with situations. Basically the idea that one can always come out to the other side and if they can help then they will do their best. Cypresswish's worst fear is to let the cats in their clan down so they always do their best to be a loyal hunter of Forestclan.

Daydreamer, Non-confrontational, Slightly Gullible

Although dependable, Cypresswish does have a bit of a problem with daydreaming. Often when left to their own thoughts their mind will think run off on a tangent. Not that it really affects their work much as they can manage to keep themselves from getting too lost in thought when needed, but it definitely sometimes makes the cat lose track of time. They luckily aren't confrontational though and will usually own up to it and try to fix things the most peaceful way when needed. Granted this was slightly because they usually trusted others' words without much thought, leading them to be a bit gullible. It's something Cypresswish is working on to lessen, not wanting to be an easy cat to trick.

Anxious, Self-doubting, Pushover

Cypresswish unfortunately does suffer from a lot of anxiety and self doubt when it comes to many interactions. They often fail to take their own advise and also tends to struggle with assuming they are just sensitive. Because of how they were raised, their problems seem just like irritations and Cypresswish prefers to bend over backwards to follow others with the assumption that is what you are meant to do. It's hard for Cypresswish to stand up for themselves and, any time they do, often even a few harsh words would be enough to have them cowering and back tracking very easily.

0-5 Moons

Cypresskit did not have an easy time coming into the world. their mother, Gentlehope, had gone into labor and ended up hemorrhaging after the three kits were born, dying from blood loss as a result. To make matters worse, it was the dead middle of winter and caused Cypresskit’s siblings, Rainkit and Bramblekit, also passed away from simply being too weak.

Cypresskit hadn’t been much better off, only surviving because of the fact they were born healthier and larger than the other kits. Spruceecho, Cypresskit’s father, did all he could to keep his last little one safe, which included going to fight Swampclan with the other guardians. Sadly, this would be the last thing he could do for the young kit as he ended up dying in battle.

Since there was no other immediate family and Cypresskit was a moon old at the time, their care fell into that of Berrystride, their aunt. Although it didn’t show and is a well-kept secret, she was a very manipulative and narcissistic cat who simply did not want to deal with this new irritation. She didn't even want kits herself, but slowly she realized that they could be an outlet for her frustrations once they got a bit older.

Any emotional problems with the two last family members were all seen as them simply grieving, as they had lost so many cats in the past couple of moons. Of course, this was also a problem many others in the clan faced and this drew even more attention away from the abuse.

Unfortunately this wouldn't be too obvious as the abuse was all done in a way where the kit didn’t know better, easily tricked into believing that this wasn’t unusual for a family. They really believed that their aunt truly did love them and only had some anger issues from time to time. In return, the kit thought if they made her happy then they’d be more like a normal family again!

In all fairness, this had somewhat appeared to work as they did have many pleasant moments together, but most of it was indeed faked so that Cypresskit wouldn’t mention any of the angry outbursts or verbal abuse that they went through. Sadly this worked and any of the insults or demeaning comments started to be seen as the truth, as to why else would someone who loves them say such awful things? Their aunt was the last cat they had and they couldn't risk losing her presence.

This internal fear made them work even harder to be a good cat and earn Berrystride's pride. Often they were seen soothing little fights by the time they was 5 moons old and the kit practically did anything to try and get a laugh out of others they met.

6-11 Moons

Almost as soon as they were apprenticed, Cypresspaw started to feel detached from the he/him pronouns they were using at the time, but often they didn’t understand why and this wouldn’t be figured out until the latter end of their apprenticeship. Rather their attention was drawn to their aunt pushing them to become a guardian, just like their father was. It was a strong arguement too as, well, their father was the one who sacrificed his life to help protect them.

The abuse was starting to seem a little odd with this development, especially with how much Berrystride pushed them to fight when they clearly didn’t want to do anything like that. The thought of hurting another cat, even when they were on opposing sides, felt too wrong so for the first time they actually didn’t go along with her words. It was such a rariety for the pushover, but they doubted their father would mind if he was there.

It had actually taken them a moon or so to stand up for themself, to be fair, but it was the first time they felt like they knew their parents would understand. They loved them, why would they bother to care if they fought or if they were a hunter? Their mother was a hunter after all! This ‘disobedience’, as the aunt saw it, made her want to make sure they knew what a disgrace they were to their father’s image.

This took a lot out of the poor apprentice, Cypresspaw having a lot of anxiety which often came off as them being very hyperactive like they were as a kit. To some point, that was true, they did have a lot of energy, but most of their fidgeting was a response to their own poorly hidden fears and overactive mind.

It was hard for them to try and balance between dealing with their aunt and making sure to do their best to be a good hunter, as they were a pretty terrible at fighting and decided they wouldn't follow lifestyle. Still, despite knowing they could be a hunter, they feared becoming the bad person their aunt so easily claimed they were already. Cypresspaw felt they shouldn’t be so sensitive to her words, that maybe it was because she missed her brother so much, which is why this pain never came to light. The tabico would of felt bad accusing her of beign a bad person back when it's grief pushing her to lash out. How would doing that make Cypresswish any better than her?

As they got closer to being 10 moons, Berrystride finally started to back off and leave them alone, becoming more and more distant from them. Not that Cypresspaw tried to think about much, enjoying the freedom to think more on their own despite the permanent problems caused by moons and moons of abuse. Part of the distancing still hurt them of course, she was his only family and raised them, but they started to have some inkling that it wasn't terrible that they didn't interact with Berrystride as much as they used to.

Coming around to the 11 moon mark, they were able to figure out the problems they had with their pronouns and, without their aunt looking over their shoulder, Cypresspaw expressed that they were nonbinary and went by ‘they/them’ pronouns. It was one of the first things that Cypresspaw actually did for themself and to this day they are very proud of that decision.

12-13 Moons

Cypresswish was luckily able to be given the honor of having the latter part of their name be in honor of their mother. Although wish was not in her name, it had a resemblance to ‘hope’ and it was enough to make them feel very proud to be called after such a wonderful cat, even if they never got to meet her.

Cypress is still very young, not sure what they want to do, but they know that they want to be the best warrior they can be and work to live a full life. So far that means daydreams of meeting ‘their one and only as well as hoping to make some closer friends. Well, that and of course hunting, they would never want to risk making their clan go hungry by not doing their duties as a hunter!

13+ Moons

Cypresswish had been working on making more friends within Forestclan, also finding Sheepstar to be a great role model and idol along with some other cats, including their teammate Boneblaze. Boneblaze didn't really seem to care much for their presence, but Sheepstar seemed to enjoy some of their attempts at crafts which made them exceptionally happy.

They had managed to help during the avalanche even, though the destruction exposed in that event had shocked them into silence as they undug the trapped Mountainclan members. It was the first real experience with death that the young hunter has ever seen in person and it has left a mark, as did the following events that occured.

Namely a disturbing nightmare and then, just barely a moon later, the trageic death of two Forestclan members, including Sheepstar. While the hunter could ignore the nightmare given it was a dream and seemed stupid to be bothered by, the death of their leader did affect them. After all, even if they only saw her as an idol really, they were by all means starting to be actual friends. Cypresswish has started to become more reserved and for now their optimistic mindset has been damaged a great deal. After all, how in the world could anyone talk out a leader so quickly? It didn't make sense and part of them is questioning how Starclan would allow such a thing to occur. The action seemed too cruel...

Unfortunately the clans weren't even going to get a break from bad news. A sudden illness broke out among cats and while Cypresswish managed to avoid falling ill themselves, there were many others who did. The hunter did their very best to be of help to Forestclan since they had gotten so lucky. This include searching for herbs as well as going on patrol to find a possible source with Camissiapaw, Wisteriapaw, and Bilberryburr.

It appeared as though the source was the water that came from the City, which was poisoning not only cats but other animals in the forest. Cypresswish just hopes now they can start making sure no other cats die. No one needed more loss and so far herb patrols have proven to be rather successful.

Cypresswish’ brow furrowed together as they focused on their nest, paws doing their best to weave flowers all throughout the moss. It was pretty difficult to do, but they refused to fail when they have done this so many times before.

It was finally spring again and the calico was excited to finally get to decorate with flowers again. Their aunt was still firm on the fact that it was supposedly childish, but how could they not use such beautiful plants? Everyone deserved to be able to have something nice and this time they remembered which ones the medicine cats didn’t need!

Perhaps they’d even make a few of their signature flower crowns since they had gotten their hunting done for the most part. Some cats didn’t like them, but others seemed to think they were good and that was enough for Cypresswish. Even getting one smile from someone was enough for them to feel like they’ve helped their clan to the best of their capabilities.

• No voice claim decided yet! I imagine they have a very gentle and rather androgynous for the most part.
• Their alignment is Lawful Good and they are an ENFP-T personality type!
• Cypress cried the first time they were told the prey they eat is dead. Poor Kit thought they just found them like that.
• They are prone to panic attacks and unfortunately trained themself to leave camp and hide out in a tiny enclosure so they can ride it out without bothering anyone.
• They probably have to put the flower crowns they make for cats they idolize in their nests because Cypress is too nervous to approach them.
