Dante always hated being human; he felt empty and unfulfilled. He believed that humans were foolish and ignorant, unwilling to cooperate and appreciate anything different from themselves. He always sought to become something "higher", something different.

During a dreary winter day whilst buried in his studies, he found an old tattered book forsaken in the back of a long forgotten section of the library he frequented. He learned of Daemons because of this book. In ancient times humans had persecuted Daemons relentlessly and wrote them out of nearly all of history and literature, only a few authors dared write about them to preserve what little knowledge was left.The daemons sequestered themselves into the far reaches of the world so that humanity could no longer benefit from their knowledge and power. Because of the book Dante discovered, he learned that humans could in fact be turned into a Daemon. And whilst the book did not specify how and only eluded to it as if a fairytale, Dante became determined to join the Daemons.

And so he sought out the Daemons, not knowing if they still existed. After years of searching he found one of the last daemon strongholds, hidden away in sparsely populated lands just on the rim of society. This group of daemons had begun to restore their numbers carefully. They still did not trust humanity, as all who remained still had fresh in their memories the atrocities humanity commited. Usually the Daemons would kill any humans who came across their stronghold, even those who did not know what was within. But the daemons did not strike down Dante when he arrived, instead they listened to him. Dante explained his beliefs and reasoning to the Daemons he had found. These daemons so happening to be some of the oldest in existence. The council of Daemons listened to him; and eventually after some minor bickering and intense discussion amongst themselves they agreed to turn Dante into a Daemon.

They explained to him how the process would likely kill him or destroy his soul, it was rare for it to work and that he should expect the worst. Dante understood and agreed, saying that he would rather cease to live than continue on living as and among the human population. And so after a ritual that the Daemons held closely guarded, after intense suffering and risk, Dante became a Daemon Transcendent. A human turned Daemon. He would become immortal, never to die by traditional disease or weaponry, only through magical means.
