Appearance
Asa has mixed heritage from her parents. Her dark-colored hair and tail come from her father, while the patterns on her fins are from her mother. She has thick wavy indigo hair she keeps long and braided back, dark purple eyes, and dark skin. Her typical attire is a loose-fitting pale green shirt when she's not on duty, and a navy-colored tank when she is. Her police uniform also provides her with two bracers equipped with lightning shield tech.
Asa grew up in an urban area with her mother, father, and older sister. Their family was not wealthy, but they were happy together. Asa, even from a young age, had strong feelings about justice and fairness. If a classmate was hurt by another, she would comfort the injured party while trying to get to the bottom of the issue. When snacks were passed around, she was the one to make sure they were equal.
Then, when Asa was thirteen, two crucial changes occurred. In the beginning of the year, her father's debts caught up to him. He had been a hitman in the mob years before they were born, and though he'd tried to put his past behind him, he never was completely able to. He died, and so did what little income they had. Her mother left to seek work. They never heard back from her, nor saw a trace of her tail.
The second change came a little while after. Asa, still in school, put together that the money her sister was bringing in had to come from less than legal sources. She confronted her sister, leading to a blowout fight between the two where words were said in the moment that neither could take back afterward. Jax left, and Asa was left alone. With nothing else to turn to, her eyes fell on the form sitting innocuously on her desk. If the system is so broken, she thought grimly, that good, honest mer have to turn to crime to survive, something needs to be done. And change comes from the people.
Jax: Older Sister
While both sisters see their society as flawed, Jax has no desire to fix that system. This frustrates Asa, who sees her big sister as throwing away her talents for a wild, untamed lifestyle. Their relationship is strained, but both sisters still care about each other (even if they won't admit it).
