Pazuzu is an Ancient Mesopotamian spirit of the West Wind, generally considered to be a demonic or evil spirit even though he is also a protector of women and an enemy of other demons. Yaqub is a Quranic surname sometimes described as meaning 'heir' or 'successor.' His Grimoire is named Lulal, after a spirit that frequently accompanies the Mesopotamian spirit Pazuzu on amulets and statues, presumably either as an assistant in defeating evil spirits or as a guard meant to keep him in-check.

ABOUT
Pazuzu is a hardcore lifestyle goth with a perpetually dour face, an all-black wardrobe covered in sharp metal spikes, and a deep interest in magic and mysticism. He's also an extremely civic-minded and kind person with a passion for social justice, who actively participates in intersectional BIPOC and queer activism. When he's not working much-begrudged shifts at the local Hot Topic [where he is perpetually accosted by Azazelle, who has been both friend and frenemy since his pre-transition middle and high school years], he can either be found volunteering with the local activist groups he's passionate about, OR huddled in his densely packed, dark little apartment watering his endless supply of carnivorous plants and perfecting his witchcraft. His Grimoire familiar is named Lulal, and they are inseparable!

INTERPERSONAL CONNECTIONS
Pazuzu has known Azazelle since they were both in middleschool, and their relationship throughout the years has been one of friendliness and friendly antagonism. She's often been the one to push him to make big decisions and move forward with major life changes that he had been putting off out of fear, and while he appreciates it, he also begrudges it. She's also the only person still involved in his life who knew him before he began his transition, and part of him feels uncomfortable with the vulnerability of that, even though Azazelle fully and without reservation accepts him for who he is.
SPECIAL DESIGN NOTES
He and Azazelle got matching tattoos when they were 18 - hers is a bat-winged heart low on her tummy, and his is a feathery-winged heart across his decollete.
