About
Rin is an adventurer and occasional thief, wandering through Sonara to discover it's mysteries and his origins. With his unusual body and the red eyes of an apostate he is shunned by most, but that does not stop him from travelling across nations and mingling with crowds. He often wears a cloak and mask in order to avoid being hunted, but cannot help himself when it comes to approaching and talking to strangers, which often gets him into trouble. He is curious by nature and loves finding out more about the world surrounding him. little does he know that this curiosity will lead down a a terrifying rabbithole.
Design
Notes
- His teeth can be simplified to just zigzag shark teeth.
- The tail is a bit longer than his body, feel free to shorten it if needed.
- He grins and shows his teeth a lot, not just when he's happy.
- He has no biological sex.

Knife
The only belonging of his parents that he owns. It is beautifully crafted and seems to be made out of some unusual metal.
Nature
A breeze going through his hair. Birds chirping all around him and the soothing song of a flowing river. He likes wandering through cities but returning to the wild will calm him down without fail. He feels safe and energized outside. The ocean is especially endearing
Sweets
He would probably kill for a delicious slice of pie. One of the first things he does when visiting a new place is to try out the pastries offered there.
Masks
One of his favourite ways to pass time is carving away at a new mask. While far from perfect he takes pride in his creations. Due to his limited space and trying to avoid being recognized he often gives older masks away or trades them for new ones.
Dislikes
The cold
Freezing temperatures are something Rin cannot handle well, which is one of the reasons why he has never travelled far north or to the large mountain ranges in the west of Sonara. He feels more sluggish and depressed when he is unable to warm up at a fire or in the sun.
Physical touch
He hates people touching his shoulders or trying to shake his hand. Physical contact is something he associates with people he's very close to, like family and friends, and it is important to him to keep it that way. Random, unsolicited touches, even if they are common gestures, give him a bit of a sensory ick.
Loud noises
Rins ears are very sensitive, and while he does not mind loud chatting and the sorts he cannot stand sharp and sudden loud sounds, like screeches, glass braking or chalk squeaking on a board. He carries makeshift earplugs with him in the case he needs to protect his ears.
Bitter things
From coffee to grapefruits, the taste of something bitter makes him grimace in disgust. If you don't want him to steal your food, simply add some biterness to it.
Story
Childhood
Aaron was foraging near a path leading through the forest as he heard something, or someone, fall to the ground. When he slithered over to investigate he found a one or so year old Rin in the arms of a severely wounded woman. He carried them back to his cottage, but the woman passed away soon after arriving there. Rin, however, seemed fine. Whatever attacked the two, his assumed mother seemed successful in protecting her child. Both Rin and his mother seemed to be apostates, although Rin's form looked oddly natural. Aaron had some experiences with caring for a child, but caring for one this young proved to be challenging. He did pull through and Rin grew up healthy and strong. He taught him a lot about foraging and being self-sufficient, but deliberately hid knowledge about the world outside the forest. He feared that if Rin were to ever venture outside he'd be persecuted for being an apostate. Still, Rin grew ever so curious about the world he lives in, getting snippets about different societies and places from travellers seeking refuge in Aarons cottage.
