Profile
Kind-hearted . Gentle . Peaceful
Samuel is an anthropomorphic ball python covered in bronze scales that fade to russet along his spine and towards his head. A U-shaped pale gold marking on his face crosses over his eyes and covers his eyebrows, with the center of it being bronze, and a similarly colored thin stripe runs the length of his spine. His muzzle and belly scales are cream-colored, and under each nostril he has a row of three light red heat pits. His scleras are yellow, and his eyes are green. He lacks eyelids.
Thermal Vision
Samuel can freely switch between normal and thermal vision as long as the pits above his mouth are unobstructed. When using thermal vision, his pupils expand fully and become bright red, and his pits become red as well. This ability does not allow him to see through walls, unless something is hot enough to heat up the wall itself. Thermal vision has a shorter range than normal vision, and he can't detect most objects farther than 30 feet while using it.
He can also utilize thermal tracking without his eyes, although it's less precise.
Constrict
His well-muscled body allows him to coil and squeeze with enough force to crush the chassis of Eggman's robots, though this is notably less efficient than mobians with the ability to use homing attacks, and only allows Samuel to more slowly dispatch of enemies one at a time. It can be quieter than the violent destruction wrought by a homing attack, though.
This also allows him to easily coil around objects for other reasons, such as climbing or being transported.
Track
By tasting the air with his long split tongue, he can detect even the smallest traces of scents, as well as their direction, allowing him to track targets with remarkable accuracy over great distances. This does leave him unusually vulnerable to pungent smells though, and overall he has a greater risk of respiratory infections and other issues from particles in the air due to his increased sensitivity.
Photophobia
Samuel is photophobic, and he easily feels pain in his eyes as well as intense migraines when in bright light without protection- which can become debilitating before long.
As he lacks eyelids, he often wears pince-nez glasses with dark or red lenses to mitigate this, and during the war he would use custom-made goggles with similarly tinted lenses.
While initially just another terrified civilian being rescued and evacuated, as time passed Samuel witnessed other meek mobians stepping up to join the Resistance and contribute to the fight against Eggman, giving him the courage to do as well.
He would go on to assist the Resistance largely through reconnaissance by being able to fit into and comfortably traverse spaces that were too small for most kinds of mobians, being able to move perfectly quietly and with a low profile, and find lost or trapped soldiers and civilians. Through his time in the Resistance he learned to be more confident in himself and his abilities after they proved invaluable time and again.

- His birthday reflects the dark day that I bought Sonic Forces.
- He's specifically based on the caramel albino genetic stripe morph.
- He was originally going to be based on the caramel albino morph. Other than struggling to stylize the pattern, I also realized I didn't want to die trying to draw him.
- His surname is inspired by the scientific name for the ball python (python regius)
- My friends have decreed him to be homophobic, due to them misreading "photophobic". His reputation has never recovered and he's still known as my "homophobic snake oc" among my peers.
