that are just beyond explanation.
A Soul
Very much a no-nonsense individual, Ren is not known for any form of bedside manner by those acquainted with him. He is unafraid to be blunt with his words, whether those words be directed towards patients, coworkers, or even loved ones- often finding beating around the bush a waste of time.
Even so, he is often looked up to for his work ethics and his tendency to always stick to the rules, unwilling to bend his morals- even if it would make something simpler for him. This often ends up with him being less willing to take chances, but he sees that just as how it is.
The gears in his head are always turning, looking for new solutions to issues. This often ends up with him keeping his nose in his own studies often, rarely stopping even to allow himself to rest and eat properly when he gets sucked into his work. Part of what fuels these almost self-destructive habits is simply his own tendency to always look towards the worst possible outcomes, wanting to be able to prevent them from happening, even if sometimes he will truly believe it to be impossible.
Ren also often ends up being described as a closed book, despite his studious tendencies- he rarely opens up to others, too caught up in his own mind to stick himself out there, not that he particularly wants to.
Both at work and outside of it, he’s an extremely disorganized person, with no rhyme or reason to how he goes about his research, just that it makes sense and it works for him, even if others might be confused upon looking at it; it’s just how he works.

A Memory
tldr; Grew up a sick child in a large family who was ignored by those around him, able to see things others can't. Decided early on thanks to his illnesses and the encouragement of one of his only friends that he was going to go into the medical field when he got older. Luckily as he got older, he got sick less often and was able to focus on his schooling, while trying his best to ignore the Symphony. He ended up moving away from his family after his graduation and started his education to become a doctor before eventually relocating to Paris following earning his GP qualifications.
Born in the English countryside, he was one in a set of twins, already with two older siblings. Much of his early life was spent sick, the young boy having issues with his lungs, chronic colds, and general exhaustion.
He found himself and his chronic illness overshadowed rather quickly though with the birth of his younger siblings, his younger sister in particular, the girl being born not breathing, though quickly revived. This event however caused them to focus heavily on her, even as he ended up hospitalized again within half a year of her birth- his lungs giving him issues once more.
It was during this time that Ren really started to notice that he was seeing things that perhaps others couldn’t- started to question the oddities that he saw. As well, it is when he met a kind doctor with a French accent who seemed to just understand and feel sorry for him, and he started seeing her from time to time in the hospital, even after he got discharged when he came back for check ups or additional visits. It was her attention and friendship that really started to shape his desire to become a doctor, coupled with his sickness.
As he grew older, he started to get sick less frequently- but he also started to learn a little bit more about the Symphony with help from the kind doctor, having learnt that she wasn’t quite human. He was always fairly distant from the rest of his family as he grew up, closest with his twin and ignored by the rest unless he was useful, it was no skin off of his back to cut ties as he neared adulthood- moving to a bigger city following his A-Levels to begin his schooling to become a doctor properly.
His schooling went rather smoothly, though he stumbled across a few more members of the Symphony along the way- often looking over his shoulder or getting a tightness in his chest at the feeling of being watched by a stranger. He never seemed to get fully injured but there were times he definitely felt like he was in danger.
After graduating from GP training at almost 28, he immediately packed up and moved to Paris, having been looking into both careers there and the access to continue his education while he had been finishing up the majority of his training. Since, he has settled into his career and life in Paris; still dealing with the visions and nightmares that he’s known his whole life while trying his best to stay under the radar of The God Machine.

And all the doubts I've faced, I'll continue to face them.
But nothing is a waste if you learn from it.
