Lake is a High-Elf Warlock currently residing in the City of Doors. She is the wife of Matlock, and holds the party in high regard after they saved his life during the goblin invasion of doors.

She is quiet and reserved, as well as an expert in identifying and appraising magical items.

Appearance

Lake is a High-Elf woman of average height. Her pale skin, blonde hair, pointed ears, and emerald-green eyes are a testament to her elven heritage. She commonly wears flowing green robes and wears accessories fashioned from twigs behind each ear. She wears a wedding band on her left hand.

Personality

Lake is soft-spoken and reserved, to the point of being perceived as unemotional by others. However, she cares deeply for her friends and family, and will allow her emotions to show in situations where her loved ones come into peril. She also allows herself to appear more animated when helping Emerson with his various schemes. 

Background

Lake was born in the Whispen Oak district of Selannggor on the island of Kalladesh. She spent much of her formative years with the Wood Elves of the Ironwood Forest. Here, she formed a pact with the many sprits living among the centuries-old trees. When she returned to her birthplace, she became a member of MITHRAL, an organization specializing in the acquisition and study of magical artifacts.

In 705 AG, for reasons unknown to Lake, she was removed from MITHRAL and banished from Kalladesh. During her wanderings, she would arrive in the City of Doors and form an adventuring party alongside Matlock, her future husband, Palmer, and Emerson.

Campaign

The party first encountered Lake, alongside Palmer and Emerson, in the bazaar district of Doors. There, Emerson challenged passers-by to a punching competition with Palmer. Lake acted as a referee, with her Elven heritage allowing her to dodge Bronson's sleep spell.

During the goblin invasion, while the party defended the southern gate, Lake and her allies successfully defended the northern gate. She would later strike down a bugbear commander who was poised to kill Matlock, alongside the party.

Following the battle, Lake would identify the cultists as being followers of Erythnul, based on their distinctive masks and clothing.

Relationships

Matlock- Lake's husband of around five years. They are strongly devoted to one another. They first met after Matlock moved to the City of Doors. Matlock is a human, while Lake is an elf, meaning that Matlock will whither and die long before his wife shows any sign of aging. Lake has sworn to Matlock that she will never fall in love again after Matlock is gone, but Matlock told her not to worry about it and instead focus on the time they will share together.

Lydon- Lake's sister-in-law. Lake tries to play the role of the loving older sister, but is painfully aware of Lydon's dislike for her.

Emerson- A close friend to Lake and Matlock. Lake chooses to participate in Emerson's schemes (such as the punching game with Palmer) because it gives her an excuse to "cut loose" and have fun.
