Seth was a normal child until one fateful day when his parents happened to pass by the Sanctum Sanctorum. They inevitably became part of a battle between one of the sorcerers from the Sanctum and a demonic, almost shapeless creature. Seth's parents tried to get to a safe place with their child. But they were separated from each other by a powerful shock wave. Seth was thrown through the air and in a split second, he reached out his little arm and grabbed the demonic creature that flew past him. He absorbed the creature. He was falling and just before he crashed to the ground, he was protected by the creature that was now inside him. The sorcerer tried to remove the demon from the child on the spot before Seth's parents noticed anything, but it failed.

The years that followed passed, and nothing happened, the demon inside Seth's body did not seem to show itself. And yet the boy was observed by the sorcerer. Until his 6th birthday, Seth became ill and his parents took him to a hospital. His fever would not go down. Until he fainted and the demon took over his body and killed everything within its reach. Among them was Seth's mother. The hospital was evacuated while the demon was still destroying everything. The sorcerer who had observed the boy for so many years jumped in and tried once again to separate the creature from the boy. But again he failed, it was as if the two had already merged. So he (poorly) sealed the demon.

As a teenager, Seth clearly had more trouble blending in than anyone else around him. He felt like he didn't belong anywhere. He was often tired and felt drained. The seal that was supposed to keep the demon in check lost power over time and more and more often the creature in Seth took control as soon as he fell asleep. The result was that Seth's father, who was completely overwhelmed with the situation, ran away and Seth moved to his grandmother. Seth was 16 years old at the time. Seth's grandmother was smart and when she met the boy one night, who was about to leave the house, she knew that this other being had taken possession of Seth. She negotiated with him and made a contract. What exactly the content of the contract was is unknown. But no further incident occurred.

At the age of 20, Seth moved out and started working at a Chinese restaurant as a delivery boy. He had barely made it through school, not because he was dumb, but because he was always tired and didn't get much out of class. So he had no choice but to accept temporary jobs. Until maybe something better was found. The owner of the restaurant was an elderly guy who let him sleep in a room above the restaurant. However, the owner seemed to notice that something was wrong with Seth, and his constant tiredness was giving him a headache. So without Seth's knowledge, he put protective runes around Seth's room to keep whatever was afflicting Seth in check. But it didn't help at all.

The day came when Seth's grandmother died. The loss and the feeling of being completely alone in the world broke the seal in Seth and the demon took full control of the boy. The demon named Nox was finally free. He enjoyed it to the fullest, killing, destroying, feasting on the pain and destruction he caused.

S.H.I.E.L.D. was called in to stop the threat. They sent an agent to take out Seth/Nox. A fierce battle occurred, in which Nox was defeated and released Seth. The agent refused to kill the innocent boy. And took over the responsibility and monitoring to find out more about the demon. Unaware of why the strange man now kept asking only for him to deliver food, the two grew closer. Too close. At one evening, Nox took over Seth's body and managed to acquire the agent's blood and thus his abilities. Without the agent even realizing what it meant.

Some time passed and another fight between Nox and the agent took place. Nox showed his newly acquired abilities to the completely confused agent, skills that seemed all too familiar to the agent.
