Joy OTA

Joy is a mermaid who's taken a huge interest in human life as of late. 

Mermaids in Joy's world need to train for ages to be able to transform into a human for any period of time at all, and Joy can do it for days without taking a break. If a mermaid can transform into a human, they're able to become a diplomat for magic/monster people who live on land, and this places them among the elite in mermaid society. Joy was the best in her class, so her life as a diplomat was highly eventful. However, she got bored of being so important (there was lots and lots of bureaucracy) so she started to fuck around with humans during her travels to make them even more exciting. Joy grew incredibly fond of humans and so, she decided to retire her lucrative position to enter human society. This was frowned upon because she had her life cut out for her, but Joy didn't give a damn what other people thought. 

She's now a fashion model who tends to model swimsuits because of how amazing she always looks in the water. She's also started to consider a career as an actress, since she acts as a human all the time, so how hard can it be? Nobody knows she's a mermaid, and she lives by the beach so she can swim out into the deep ocean and get a breather in her true form every week. Sometimes, she takes mysterious vacations to visit her mermaid friends and family. 

As her name suggests, she has a very cheerful disposition and is a huge optimist. Being around her can be a highly energising experience, or downright exhausting if you're a hardcore introvert. She's highly charismatic, mischievous, and stubborn. She is also pretty vain and adores the spotlight. Her favourite things in the world are attention, glamour, and gorgeous women - all of which are readily available through her modelling job. Joy breaks a lot of hearts and enjoys the experience, though she doesn't do it on purpose. 

She speaks with an accent but it's incredibly hard to place because it's not from a place that exists on land. However, she's good at mimicking other accents (and other sounds in general) because she has siren ancestry. As such, she's a very good singer and can throw her voice. Though her voice would be suited to opera, she absolutely loves singing and listening to bubbly pop music. 

Joy was quite bad at getting the hang of human technology, but that made her want to learn it even more, which she did. As a byproduct of her technological prowess, she does phishing scams for fun (and because the pun is too good to pass up) and keeps getting away with them. Joy really likes taking stuff she's bad at and becoming good at them out of spite: another example is that even though she's clumsier than the average human on land, she can absolutely strut her stuff in heels. The secret was practice and patience, both of which paid off splendidly. Any amount of clumsiness disappears as soon as she's in the water, though. 

Some more things about Joy are that she never gets cold and loves wearing revealing clothing, and that her favourite food is raw salmon sashimi.
