Akio firmly believes themself to be cursed. They have taken a vow of silence, hoping to protect themself from being able to form connections. However, love loves love and is incredibly bad at not making connections.
In the killing game, they made several close friends, had a two-day whirlwind relationship, and only got more invested in their relationships after his girlfriend's untimely "death".
Character
Akio does not lie. They try to avoid forming close connections, due to their belief in a curse which kills their romantic partners, and hurts their friends. However, they are incredibly bad at this and often make close connections.
He went silent at age 20, and does not speak to new people. This is partially due to a belief that speaking makes it easier to get close to people, and partially a reaction to something said to them by their last boyfriend.

Trivia
- Akio does not enjoy fiction, whether in books, movies, or shows. They do, however, enjoy poetry.
- They only listen to two types of music; aggressively sexual hyperpop (reserved for driving and studying), and Taylor Swift. They consider Taylor Swift a poet.
- They have a severe fear of the ocean from losing their first girlfriend. They used to have a fear of cars from one of their later partners, but they overcame it while learning to drive.
- Akio believes he has four dead partners. He is wrong.
- They are still in contact with their "only" living ex. They regularly have Taylor Swift sing-a-long sessions. They are both close to tone-deaf.
- Akio typically communicates with their phone, but they actually prefer pen and paper.
- All of Akio's family have four letter names. They have so very many cousins, most of whom they very rarely see. Their favourite cousin, who they talk to a little more often, is Maki.

Elodie is Akio's girlfriend, and their everything.
In the Killing Game, they dated for only two days before Elodie was pulled out of the game. Her supposed death left Akio entirely distraught and emotionally ruined, leading them directly to the downward spiral that caused his and Bo's deaths. Through it all, they loved her. They figured out that she was the one behind the game before their death, and they continued to love her.
In the College AU, they are more stable, though they had a rocky start. Akio is enjoying finding out all of Elodie's little quirks, habits, and loves.
Akio cares for Scarlett more deeply than they really know how to deal with.
They didn't speak much in the first chapter of the game, only really beginning to interact when they both worked security for MEGA's concert in Chapter 2. In the following chapter, they became close friends. This started deteriorating again with the third trial, and Akio taking part in the execution. Some attempt to get along, though not truly make up, was made given that they were among the non-infected of Chapter 4 but, with Scarlett dying that chapter, they never truly reconciled. Akio mourned Scarlett as if their friendship had never ended.
In the College AU, they are best friends. They frequently go for outings together, often including sitting in Akio's car and talking about how much they love their partners. This time, they will never be separated.
