Shizue is a naturally cold person. Though he doesn't exactly want to be alone, but he generally goes out of his way to get as little interaction as possible. He isn't used to being around other people or having normal conversations. It isn't a stretch to say that he moreover craves attention where he can get it, but feels like he doesn't deserve it otherwise. He's a loner, indulges in silence rather than the comfort of others and does so without a second thought. Even if he knows he does best around others and wants to make friends (and be normal he can't bring himself to do so under the pretense that he wouldn't be able to protect them if they were to get too close. He would get too emotional, too unstable for his liking. He gets overwhelmed very easily and can't control his own quirk when his he has his mind on something or his thoughts are elsewhere. This caused him to become somewhat of a blank canvas when he was alone. (Was, is the keyword, things got better.) He wouldn't so much as blink at the thought of danger, instead using his empty mindedness to use his quirk to fruition instead of being held back by his own anxieties.

Even now, he doesn't care much for his own well being. He can't find himself caring about himself, and in doing so, often gets himself hurt due to his own recklessness when in a fight, mock or not. He's often chastised for this, but usually doesn't bat an eye when this happens unless it's someone he cares about. There's nothing worse than upsetting someone he cares about. That's when he gets flustered or worried, showing even a shimmer of emotion in the face of someone he loves. Tears especially spur him into an anxious wreck, mostly when he doesn't understand the consequences of his actions or when he gets hurt. He just doesn't understand that it hurts other people when he's hurt. He isn't very capable when his emotions are out of whack, so he tries to meditate often and practices breathing exercises. He's prone to anxiety attacks and in a flight or fight situation, will always flee regardless of his own capability. Even if some others trust him, he isn't able to trust himself just about... ever. He has low esteem from battering himself down to practically nothing and can't take compliments well from anyone (other than his boyfriend.)
