Faved! (Already following!)
When I was little I would make these little books and stories. One I made was a guidebook to made-up lizards called "The made up book of lizards?" and was part of a series of similar made-up books of [insert animal? here]. One of those lizards I called the "leaf tailed gecko" and listed where it lived as Madagascar. A year later, an actual leaf-tailed gecko was discovered in Madagascar. That's why I put a question mark in the titles of these books.
Entering! Faved + about a month ago my dad fell off a ladder, and obliterated his ankle, his foot is only barely attached my the skin, he has surgery this Friday to hopefully fix the bone! The picture is insane 💀, anyways this guy is a cutie!!
Faved! And interesting fact about myself is that I can spin on my ankle joint like a top (joint flexibility go brr) and I have 7 step siblings, 2 half siblings and had 1 full blood sibling so 10 in total
faved when I was a small human I decided that the coolest thing I could possibly do was stick my finger in an electric pencil sharpener long story short my fingers can not be sharpened and I still have the scar
entered! fun fact, if the specimen is well preserved enough, we can tell what color a dinosaur was! we unfortunately can't know blue, purple, or green because those don't get preserved in the fossil record, but we can know black, red, and brown! white gets preserved, I believe? it's just hard to tell if it was actually white or if there was blue, purple, or green that just didn't get preserved. the way they figure it out is by looking at melanosomes! there's two different types, and based on the shape of the melanosomes we're able to tell what color of pigment the dinosaur had! structural color also gets preserved! that's how we know that microraptor was black and had iridescent feathers like a crow. super cool stuff! structural color is also found in hummingbirds :) so that shiny throat/feathers they have are actually colorless
faved ^_^ + i was led to believe my whole life my grandfather was dead only to find out he’s not dead and living in another state with a new family. he doesn’t know i exist and he left my mom + her mom when my mom was 5 >_o #AWKWARD
