Kit and his sister Marin live on the edge of a bustling city, where they raise sheep for their wool and meat. Both have a deep love and appreciation for the animals, and it keeps them busy most days. Kit spins wool from the sheep, and is largely in charge of processing the wool and other sheep products, like lanolin.
Kit is very well respected within the community, as he is always helping those in need, especially elders. He's mostly around people much older than him, so he can't help but feel a little isolated in that sense. Kit is someone who tries his hardest to be charistmatic and personable, something that most people appreciate about him. It helps him get customers afterall. Though, his sometimes overly critical mind can make him pretty judgemental of others, he does try to mask his personal biases.
Kit has a thirst for knowledge, and he is very keen on learning magic. He's able to hyperfixate on it, and although he doesn't have a proper mentor, he has been scowering scrolls and note books for years in order to teach himself artificer magic. In his studies and experiments, he learns to awaken an Artificial Mind. He used the skull of a lamb that died in his arms, quickly realizing it could be a mistake, as he began to form an emotional attachment to the Mind which he called "Dahlia". Marin antagonizes him about it, saying its creepy to create the illusion of something real. Kit tries to brush her off, and instead finds comfort in spending time with Dahlia as he teaches her about the world.
As an artificer, he's initially excited to meet the gnome that Marin hires, a fellow artificer. Except, their relationship quickly sours as they both have very different ideas of how artificer magic should be used. Kit is interested in using it to store and retrieve knowledge, and to assist in day to day tasks. Basil on the other hand, thinks Kit's uses of magic are pathetic, and that he should be learning to build weapons. Maybe there is some truth in both viewpoints, but they can never seem to see eye to eye.
Kit would prefer to have Basil gone after a certain point, but it becomes increasingly harder to distance himself, as Basil and Marin begin to form a very close relationship. This is the happiest Kit has seen his sister in months, years even, so he tries to be happy for her.
