basics.
  • The Host is an extradimensional entity that feeds on psychic energy, typically harvested from human dreams.
  • Having a sadistic streak and a sense of humor, it chooses to manifest as the "host" of an incomprehensible "game show", in which one or more victims are forced to participate.
  • The nature of its games are variable, absurd, and tend to be themed around common fears. It will take great relish in calling out losers, and only begrudgingly acknowledge winners.
appearance.
  • The creature is more or less humanoid in shape. Instead of a head, a large cartoonish disembodied Mouth can be seen - with red lips, large white fangs and a void-black snake tongue.
  • Its body is usually distorted; having large disconnected hands, floppy overly-long arms, and short legs.
  • Its choice of clothing varies greatly, but trends toward looks popular in North America throughout the 1950s to the 1970s.
  • A fun optional trait is a long snake tail, with scales patterned in blobby 70s shapes. Has a rattle which sounds like canned applause.
  • Never appears in the same outfit twice.
extra ideas...
  • likes a fighter, hates a quitter.
  • voice is smooth, deep, and showy. it subtly hisses its S's when it talks. always seems to be addressing an audience, even when one isn't immediately visible: "Well, folks..."
  • an approximate voiceclaim would be [ Jim Thornton ] performing as the Wheel of Fortune announcer.
  • As for what happens to the "losers" of its games: their ultimate fates are left up to interpretation.
    • Do they wake up fine, just rattled and exhausted?
    • ... or something worse?
