Claire was originally born in a rich family. Surnamed the Marmalades; Claire’s family was famous for selling their famous marmalade jams. The owner of the company, her father, took pride in every creation he was able to make with his jams. Once the company was first launched, Claire’s father was passionate and tranquil. He was never afraid to make the decisions company owners couldn’t. Once Claire was born, her father pressed their mother to get a job. The company was sucking all their money, resulting in difficulty in paying bills or taxes. Since the woman had no education, she had no choice but to start a job in prostitution. At first, Claire’s mother found it crude and disgusting. Despite the sickening idea in her head, she forced herself to grow used to it. When the Marmalades were finally able to pay for bills, taxes, food, and other basic needs, the company started to grow. They achieved the impossible by jumping from the lower middle class to higher upper class.

Regardless of the family’s financial stability, Claire’s father started becoming more distant. More success led to less time. Family dinners became quiet, their mansion grew cold, and the city became lifeless. When Claire’s 9th birthday arrived, her father disappeared along with the company. The company went under and left no trace of evidence as to why or how. Without the return of their father, Claire and her mother were forced to move into a small apartment.
