Profile

"Of course, nothing is eternal... and pain awaits us all in the end. But that doesn't make life a story of despair. Not at all. It's a fight against death and separation in what precious little time one is given. It's a repetition of meeting and parting despite knowing there's an end. Human stories are dazzling, brief journeys, like the twinkling of the stars."

Cilius

A noble soul who was lost to time, now returned and lost.

Humble and kind, Cilius is a noble soul who's passion for magecraft knows no bounds. Being the child of flame Deity, Takahiro, he has an affinity for magic. Often times he can get lost in his studies which tends to leave a disasterous mess of notes in its wake, though he claims there's always a method to his madness.

History

Cilius is born from the Flame Deity, Takahiro, and blessed by the moon which reflects on his pale fur. Originally from a more oriental setting he lived a humble, normal life with his father under the name of Soushiro. Cil always had a thirst for knowledge and this insatiable need pushed him to venture from his homeland where he left his family behind.

He began his venture as nothing but a common adventurer in ragged clothing. This journey brought him across the sea to another land which he avidly studied their language and culture. He quickly discovered his name was an oddity amongst their peoples so he adopted the name Cilius(Cil for short) to better fit in. Thanks to his magical affinities and brilliant intellect he was able to offer his aid along his journey. While his reputaiton grew, his humility always remained and he was ever humble when offered rewards for his services. Simply stating that he accepted the experience as reward enough for his efforts.

Over his adventures he met many people, had companions come and go, or even travelled alone. Sometimes he would run into those he knew, one in particular who spent some time with him turned out to be a prince of a growing kingdom. They had formed a close friendship and it was this prince who requested that Cilius become one of their court mages. He was reluctant at first but also terrible at refusing requests especially if it's from someone he considers a friend. Accepting the position it was quickly realized that his skills and knowledge surpassed the other mages and with his friendship with the prince Cil was granted the title of Archmage and adorned with robes fitting of the moniker. Through his consoltations the kingdom flourished.

Cilius, however, found his time growing more dull. His desire for knowledge limited when confined to remain in the kingdom, and so he requested permission to travel. While remaining ever loyal to the kingdom he wished to travel the surrounding lands in hopes of aiding their peoples and with it gaining more experience and knowledge. The decision was not made quickly, but ultimately his wish was granted and Cil was permitted to travel freely so long as he could remain in contact via his rune magics.

It was during this time that Cil felt the most happy. The freedom of travel while helping the people and watching his dear friend's kingdom grow. Cil quickly rose to fame as the kind, humble Archmage who's hospitality knew no bounds, and while kind he was also capable and strong, able to fell the mightiest of foes. A detail he was not particularly keen on but to see people shine with happiness to brighten the kingdom was enough for him.

However, darkness soon crept in and infected the lands. Villages and towns began suffering from horrible pestilence, attacks, and mysterious cases of missing people. Fear and dread brought hysteria to the people, and Cilius grew concerned. Each investigation brought him to a dead end until finally he managed to come across a town actively being affected by the dark magics. Corrupted crystals infected the town and appeared to drain the very life from the villagers. Cilius quickly placed warding runes to clear the affected area and seemingly cure the villagers of their blight. However, continuing such acts drew out the ire which was the source of all this dark magic. A Dark Mage, one only spoken of in stories appeared and expressed their distaste in Cil's "meddling" in their annual meal.

Cilius was disgusted by someone who could be so corrupt to the point of draining the lives of the innocent and so he stood before the mage ready to protect the lives which were so precious to his friend's kingdom. On this day which has now been lost to time only found written in a scarce few storybooks, that Cilius and this Dark Mage clashed. It is written that Cilius brought forth his all and even transformed into his vulpine form to face this dark threat, but ultimately fell prey to the mage's overpowering strength. The stories say that the Archmage vanished that day and the dark power which infected the land ebbed away.

In truth, Cilius was taken by the Dark Mage that day. Having lost his battle the mage had taken him as their prize and encapsuled him within his collection of crystals in his lair to slowly eat away at his life-force. For what could have been centuries, Cil, spent trapped in slumber within those cursed crystals. Awoken only by the shattering of his crystaline prison and for the first time in ages taking in the air of the real world. A brave adventurer, not unlike someone he used to know, had ventured their way into the mage's lair(potentially one of many) and sought to free those trapped within. To Cilius's relief he was finally free, but to his despair was weakened from his prolongued imprisonment. This weakness he soon discovers is not only caused by his life being stolen but the world istelf seemed to have changed since he was last among the living. The very magic which once flowed abundant beneath his feet had changed and weakened. To further add to his troubles, he for the life of himself could not remember what his life was before being trapped other than his name.
