PERSONALITY

Mureum's lack of proper socialization as well as wanted status have made him a bit awkward and wary of strangers, but for the most part he is docile, well mannered, and despite it all.. very gullible. He wishes for deeper connections with people and to be able to enjoy all his newly created life has to offer, but he is easily bruised and will internalize any negatives about him. He's the self pitying type.

(Eventually, he gains more confidence and starts stepping out of his comfort zone, though he remains pretty delicate.)

DESIGN & NOTES

His design is ever-changing. There are times I draw him with certain features and without others-- As long as it's in his main gallery (linked above) it's fair game to use artistic intepretation with it!

Below are some notes on what's typically optional/not set in stone and what is integral to his design.

• The placement of the white in his hair, as well as his right eye color being lighter never change! (He CAN have more than just his left bangs be white though-- the white is from age, so other parts showing greying is fine!)
• His mustache ranges from very full, to wispy, to pencil thin and all are correct! Having a little chin hair is perfectly fine too!
• His headwings are optional, though if I've specified otherwise for a commission then follow that instead. The bat wing is always on the right though!
• His stitches can be interpreted however you like! I tend to make them look like scars, but in some sketches I'll draw him with sitches.
• His patchwork pattern also doesn't need to be exact! The blue face patch is always on the right, and I try to remember his blue hand is on the left, but outside of that.. colors and patch placement can be messed around with!
• Outfits can be anything similar to what he's wearing in refs! If I haven't specified or you want me to choose, let me know!
• His eye shape is still hard for me to pin down, but I mostly tend to draw him squinting (he doesn't know he has bad eyesight lol)

(None of this is 100% canon and I'm just gonna write quick notes. Mureum's story is one that's cowrote with some pals, but I'm specifically really bad at talking so.. It's been a while since speaking about it. This is all nonsense <3)

Mureum's life starts of in media res-- He knows he was created by Someone, Somehow, but everything else is a blur. I think he's going to have been dropped off at an abandoned (yet taken care of *think emoji*) farmhouse, where he lives with who is initially assumed to be the farm's former owner's spirit, Taelia, haunting the land.

Unbeknownst to either of them, Mureum's creation caused two souls to vanish from the archive of the afterlife, making him a wanted man. When he is finally found, it's a shock to the demon who scouts him out (Hell's bookkeeper, Endo) that resurrecting the dead is even possible, and is convinced to let Mureum stay on Earth until they can figure out who and how this happened.

Mureum is then invited to live with Endo until they can both return to the afterlife, to which realizes two things: One, it's hard to feel like a person when you're a 6'7" man made monster, and two.. Taelia isn't haunting the land, she's haunting him.

(Part 2 is after a time skip. Mureum's hair has grown longer and the grey in his hair has fully taken up one side of his bangs. His clothes are still likely more dull in color, but this will change as this part continues..?)

It's been at least a year, during that time Endo has fallen deeply in love with the human world. He is out a lot and it's resulted in the amount of leads they have on where Mureum's creator could be drying up.

While this means Mureum and Taelia are allowed to live longer, Mureum has begun to realize that maybe he truly doesn't belong here. He wishes to socialize with other humans, but can't help but feel like his monsterous appearance has people realizing he isn't actually a "real" human and that they will either reject him from society or try to cause him harm.

He is jealous of Endo for having the luxury of being able to at the very least blend in physically, and it causes Mureum to withdraw from others and pick up unhealthy habits. During this spiral, Taelia seems to be around less often, making him assume that the only human he has ever known and has been shown kindness from is pushing him away as well, furthering the spiral... Until he suffers a medical emergency.

(Continued from Part III-- This is a completely new part that I realized might be needed when finally writing all I have down of the story here. If this is to stay, Mureum's design will now be lacking the headwings.)

Upon further investigation, it's concluded that the reason Taelia was haunting him in the first place is that they share a heart. With that knowledge, they're able to piece together who exactly Mureum's creator is, however the heart attack has caused Taelia to return to the archive of souls before naturally being able to move on again. Endo and Mureum venture off to Hell in hopes of recovering her without being caught.

All of this is a mess, but how they get her back is kinda unknown. The ending would very loosely have Taelia return with the opportunity to inhabit a body of her own (with her heart? maybe?), Endo would give up all that he's worked for in Hell to live a life as a normal human, and Mureum would have the opportunity to live out the rest of his life the best he can (Either he has a heart transplant that makes it so he can live a little longer and Taelia and him both have abouutt the same amount of time left on Earth, or he keeps their heart and would pass before both Endo and Taelia, but his journey has given him what he needs to truly embrace the time he has.)

Mureum's north star. Because of their situation, he and her are extremely close and offer the other companionship. Taelia teaches Mureum of certain aspects of human life and shares stories of when she was living, and Mureum is more than happy to hear.

Mureum deeply respects and admires her and takes her opinions to heart.. Unfortunately for both of them, her knowledge isn't always useful, as she is from an older time period and her rural upbringing in general doesn't fully line up with city living.

Mureum is put off by Endo for the most part. He doesn't fully trust him in the beginning because Taelia doesn't and he trusts her judgement, and by the time part ii rolls around, Taelia's opinions have softened as she hopes he'll have humanity sway him, however Mureum is now jealous of how easily Endo is able to blend into human life.

He learns Endo hasn't had an easy time blending in outside of looking human, but it hasn't stopped him from trying. In part III they bond more and eventually become friends maybe :)

This dude is the biggest pain in the ass. Both Mureum and myself don't know the motive of why he created Mureum. (Though I know How lol). For the past 5 years I've had myself be a stand-in for his character design because I just keep forgetting to make stuff for him.

Anyway Mureum ends up hating this guy until they find him... then? who knows <3
