A bright and cheerful young elf who had a dream: to travel the world and visit the Eastern Kingdoms. Much to her people's disapproval, she left Kalimdor and visited, secretely, the lands of other races, making sure she wouldn't be seen.

Peregrïn used to be a shy child, but grew a happy young girl. She loves the sun, exploring, seeing the world, she loves the sea, she has kind of a “sunny personality”, and she’s optimistic.

Perry and Khadgar do have a bunch of traits in common, traits that brought them closer.

She’s smart and very, very curious. She loves to learn about everything, so they spent time reading and discussing about it, sharing thoughts, sharing theories. She is a risk taker, she’s not afraid to try new things (after all she started traveling at a young age), so they’d experiment things, or get to private libraries together. They’d borrow books, read them all night, and then be sleepy all day. To some, they could be seen as trouble makers. She likes to laugh, and they like to make each other laugh.

She’s caring, she wants to help. She can be reassuring and inspiring. Peregrïn is also a bit blunt. She's very honest. It’s like she has no filter with some subjects, mostly nice subjects, those that make her feel love/joy. She can just stop in the middle of something and compliment Khadgar when he less expects it (special mention to the day she told him his ears were small and cute).

As optimistic as she is, she has a lot of weaknesses. And she lacks self confidence. She especially feels like a bad elf, with how different she is. She’s short and she’s not as pretty or graceful or strong. She can still kick ass, but only when necessary. Though when she’s in battle by Khadgar’s side she worries a lot about him so she naturally becomes a good bodyguard. She’s just better than she thinks.

She’s jumpy, and if you scare her she might turn into a cat. “Home” is important for Peregrïn, but she doesn’t feel home anywhere. As much as she adores a lot of places, forests, cities, etc, (she says she fell in love with Stormwind) she still feels like a stranger everywhere. To a point she decreed that “home” was not a place, but a person. And with that person in her heart, she’d be home anywhere in the world.

Childhood

tumblr_inline_p27r6qV3H21qg6701_500.png

Peregrïn grew up with her parents in Kalimdor, an only child with strict parents she could never make proud. At an early age she began to show interest in nature and the wildlife, choosing to spend most of her childhood taking care of the animals. Due to this she began to spend time with the druids and became very close with them, deciding that she too, wanted to become a druid. While female druids among the Kaldorei were not common, there were exceptions to the rule and she still wished to join their ranks.

As she grew into adolescence she soon found out that she didn’t match up to her peers. Being less graceful, less resistant, and physically weaker, she was often left behind by those her age. She didn’t blame anyone for the fault, but the sting of exclusion burned heavily, especially to find out that it grew worse as she aged. In response she spent more time reading and less time trying to fit in with the other kids, finding that she enjoyed it much more. Just as well, the young Elf discovered that she was adept at learning more and more, and it comforted her to get lost within far off worlds. Learning far more about history, legends, and people than her kind normally did at that age and beyond, and she began to dream of seeing the world with her own eyes.

Surely it must be as grand as the books made it out to be?

At any rate for her it beat staying within the forests surrounded by all the other Kaldorei. She wanted more for herself, to learn about all the forms of magic (even those forbidden among the Night Elves) and the different races she knew were out there, and to walk among the other races. Peregrïn was told that it was impossible and forbidden, and so she instead focused on learning the druidic arts, and became an adequate student. She learned how to take the form of a cat and found that her confidence grew from being faster and stronger than she was in her early years. With strength gained and her ability to become invisible, she no longer could resist the call of curiosity for the world yet unknown to her, and while still quite young—she left her people despite the protests.

tumblr_inline_p1ki9x83pJ1qg6701_500.png

The young wizard Khadgar also grew up in a lonely way, yet for distinct reasons. Too young to understand why his parents left he grew up in the face of being unwanted. Despite that he was a good student, enjoyed reading a lot, and made friends who would describe him as fun and talkative. When old enough he received his own room in Dalaran and became a very talented young mage, a good artist, and was even known as a very curious child - even too curious for his own good. He was said to have a gift to talk to the right person at the right time to get the desired information.

Meeting Khadgar

tumblr_inline_p27rd4pV7x1qg6701_500.png

Peregrïn had seen many things, people and places before finally ending up in Dalaran. Khadgar had seen her many times before from afar and was very curious about her. Firstly, because she wasn’t of a race normally seen, secondly for all of the things she had seen on her travels, and thirdly because he was fairly sure he had seen her turn into a giant cat once. When he tried to approach her she simply disappeared, yet at another opportunity he was successful in getting a chance to talk to her. His mind raced with all the questions he wanted to ask but he kept them for another time, not wanting to scare her off, and they introduced each other. Peregrïn explained her love of magic and asked if he could show her (only after she had offended him by calling him a ͞very young human.͟). They quickly realized how much they had in common and Khadgar decided to show her the library that he spent much of his time in. That evening he gifted her his pouch with a book she had found, before he retired to his room.

The next day she went back to return the pouch. Their friendship grew as time went by, especially as he helped her make her mark in the city, gave her comfortable clothes, and eventually invited her to his room when he realized she had none. In return for his aid Peregrïn would tell him stories of her travels, talk of the people she had met, teach him things she knew, and even bring him on little adventures in Lordaeron. Yet Khadgar realized what she truly did for him in return was make him less lonely, as they were friends and roommates who shared many hobbies together.

tumblr_inline_p1kjmyBqJW1qg6701_500.png

Often, they were even partners in crime—if one could call sneaking into the Grand Library to borrow books and scrolls that were off-limit, crimes. Sometimes they were caught and would have to hide, before returning to Khadgar’s room to read and talk about the things they read all night. This would sometimes lead to arguments and debates about their differing thoughts. Before dawn they would always return the books and no one was the wiser.

Peregrïn helped him practice his spells and even assisted in the incident that caused him to have his white streak of hair, to which she embarrassed him by thinking it was cute. Some time after they had met he accidentally called her ͞Perry͟ instead of Peregrïn and the nickname stuck. They had a lot of trust in each other and would share secrets.

The two grew up and slowly they began to realize almost simultaneously that they held romantic feelings for each other. Tiny instances led them to believe that what they shared had grown into more than just friendship. Often times they would feel the fear of being separated or jealousy, as well as an undeniable physical attraction. Peregrïn was the first to fully realize that her feelings of friendship for the young mage had evolved into romantic attraction yet she quickly pushed her feelings aside.

She knew that Khadgar accepted her for who she was and was kind, yet still, she assumed that he wouldn’t return her feelings due to her being a Night Elf, the benefits of their friendship too important for her to risk it. She could never imagine him sharing in her romantic feelings and so acted as normal as possible, which led for the young mage to keep his own feelings hidden as well. This would all change one year later during the yearly Winter Veil celebration. [Read the comic].

Peregrïn was the first to confess her love aloud. From then on she would remind him of her affections with random compliments, no longer afraid to voice her feelings. Yet Khadgar was still insecure and felt the fear of being abandoned eventually, especially by Perry, and he sometimes questioned why someone like her would choose to be with him.

He had asked her why once and she had answered that she had left her home in search of two things: the sun and a home, both of which she had found in him.

Khadgar goes to Karazhan

tumblr_inline_p27rgtihqW1qg6701_500.png

For a time, they were happy together in their simple life—being friends, and young lovers. Yet growing up waits for no one and soon Khadgar was chosen to be the apprentice of the great Magus Medivh; a fantastic opportunity that couldn’t be passed by. Both of them suspected that their behavior and curiosity had partially led to this decision by the Council. Less secrets would be discovered with them separated, as Khadgar would be far from Dalaran. For a time, Perry felt the selfish need to ask him to run away with her and to explore the world together, yet she never did. Instead she encouraged him to go, for it truly would be a great opportunity indeed, and that no matter the time that passed, she would wait for him.

And so, he left.

tumblr_inline_p1kjiu36zO1qg6701_500.png

Months had passed and with it countless letters between the two.
Peregrïn kept living in Dalaran, staying in Khadgar’s room felt like he was not that far. Meanwhile Khadgar first cleaned and arranged Medivh’s library until he earned Medivh’s trust and respect enough to become his apprentice. He’d occasionally face orcs and demons, something he knew would worry the young druid to death if she knew.
The little he’d tell her worried her just enough. She couldn’t resist paying him a visit once or twice while he was there, and got surprised by how much weight he had lost. Surely the life in Karazhan wasn’t the same as one of a student, and Cook’s food wasn’t the pastries they were used to eat together.
She wished she could stay nearby, make sure he was okay, but eventually had to return to Dalaran.
And one-day Peregrïn suddenly felt her body become cold as if her bones had been frozen and her heart shattered, tears streamed down her face and while she had no idea what had happened, instinct told her that she must fly to Karazhan immediately.

She soon found out what had happened. Medivh (While possessed by the spirit of Sargeras) had pulled the life, youth, and magic out of Khadgar which had left him physically an old man and feeling as if he wouldn’t long survive. By the time Perry had arrived Lothar had gone elsewhere, while Khadgar buried the body of Medivh and his servants Cook and Moroes. He had also searched the tower twice and preserved a few of the magical items and books. The sudden arrival of Perry shocked him for he hadn’t expected to see her so soon. Beyond merely surprising him, it was also incredibly frightening, as he had changed and became old and was unsure of how she would react.

Peregrïn quickly explained that she had feared his death and knowing that he was alive and well was all that she needed. Gently touching his face and asking him what had happened, Khadgar slowly responded without dwelling on the details.

The Wars

tumblr_inline_p27rkuwOCc1qg6701_500.png

Both then traveled to Stormwind to help Lothar, and after a long day they were left to themselves, finally having a chance to catch their breath and talk. Peregrïn was the first to note that it had been too long since the last they had been together yet to Khadgar it had felt like years. For a moment, he smiled and felt at home with her presence. Shortly after when they approached each other, he was reminded of what had happened and suddenly felt embarrassed by his new appearance

She reminded him how much she loved him and that she didn’t care about his appearance, just that she wanted to be with him. Together they managed to get through it, Perry helping him recover his strength and magic until he was strong enough, if not more powerful, than before. Most of the time she made him feel like the young man he was still was inside, never missing the chance to tell him how much she loved him.

About a year later Khadgar and Peregrïn follow Lothar to Lordaeron after the fall of Stormwind and the death of King Llane. On the way over by boat Perry tried to cheer up the children, and she felt empathy for the young King Varian, wanting him to feel supported. Lothar assembled the kingdoms to fight against the Orcish Horde and Khadgar often assisted him. During this chaotic time the couple meet Turalyon and they become fast friends. Despite being younger than the paladin, Khadgar acted like an elder brother towards him and Peregrïn enjoyed watching the mage interact and laugh with him. While Khadgar was a wise and powerful mage on the battlefield, it seemed as if he had turned back into a teenager when he was around Peregrïn and Turalyon.

The first time Peregrïn meets Alleria, a High Elf, she attempted to hide behind Khadgar, feeling intimidated by such a confident figure while also fearing being judged for being a lesser elf. Yet she warmed up to her quickly and they became good friends. Turalyon quickly fell head over heels for Alleria and both Khadgar and Perry tred to help him, though they still laughed because of his awkwardness..

They won the war. Destroying the portal and stopping the orc invasion. Afterwards Turalyon returned to Stormwind and helped king Varian rebuild the city, and Alleria continued to hunt orcs wherever she could find them.

Three years pass and Khadgar was recognized as an Archmage. The young couple would continue working on research while he kept an eye on the rift in case of a new invasion. They still would manage to have many happy times together, particularly helped with Peregrïn pulling him from his books and asking to go travel for a few days. Usually he would say yes, unless something important concerned him, because he knew that the little elf had left her travelling ways behind to be by his side. As a positive, it did him good to take a break.

The Alliance Expedition

tumblr_inline_p27rr7GrfF1qg6701_500.png

Yet all good things must come to an end, and eventually Khadgar noticed activity coming from the rift. The Orcish Horde needed items to open more portals to different worlds, and he refused to let that happen. Thus, the Alliance Expedition was formed, made up of Khadgar and Peregrïn along with Turalyon, Alleria, Kurdran Wildhammer, Danath Trollbane and their separate troops. The Expedition set forth into the Dark Portal to the orc home world of Draenor to stop their enemy.

It was there on Draenor that a vision Khadgar had in Karazhan came to life and things took an unexpected turn for the couple. As soon as he stepped foot on Draenor he recognized it. The red sky, the barren land, it was exactly like his vision—a vision where he saw himself, but old and dying in this land. He was only 22 and never imagined the vision coming to fruition so suddenly. He kept it to himself yet feelings of bitterness and nervousness festered for others to see.

Peregrïn tried her best to comfort her lover despite an old bitter idea that had welled up inside him again, namely the feeling that she deserved better. He reminded himself that she used to travel the world and explore, that it had been her dream. She was not meant to be stuck in this barren land, fighting orcs with a man who was old despite being so young, a man who was destined to die soon. Khadgar’s worst fears came true when they had to face Deathwing. The young wizard made a dangerous move to defeat him, leading Peregrïn to say something that would then set his mind.

The Night Elf was terrified to have almost lost him, and told him, "I wouldn’t survive if something happened to you." [Read the comic] Knowing from his vision that his death was near, Khadgar froze, he couldn’t leave her alone on Draenor.

Later on, Ner’zhul had opened many portals, the force of which was about to destroy Draenor along with Azeroth through its connection, the Dark Portal. Khadgar had no choice but to destroy the portal from Draenor to save Azeroth, though the decision would mean that he and his friends would be stuck upon the collapsing world.
He had gathered a few magical objects before coming to Draenor, one of which was a small hearthstone he had found in Karazhan, and he knew now how he was going to use it. In desperation he asked Peregrïn to go home and start over, to be happy, and return to her dream of exploring the world. She of course refused to leave him. Khadgar made the choice for her in that moment, giving her the hearthstone and activating it before she realized what he was doing. [Read the comic]

Separation

tumblr_inline_p27rvkzX4Y1qg6701_500.png

Peregrïn was thus teleported to Dalaran with no way back to Draenor. For all she knew there could be nothing to return to by the time she found a way back. Confused and sad, she ran to the local leaders to ask for help but she was instead forced to report on what had happened. She was also questioned about the hearthstone, though she refused to give it up. She had mixed feelings about the object which had separated her from her love, yet was the last piece of Khadgar she had left, a true reminder of his love.

She searched far and wide for a solution but could not find one, and without answers, she disappeared for a few years. Perry went back to exploring Azeroth, this time avoiding contact with people.

It was in the year 15 (7 years later) that Peregrïn returned to Stormwind for the birth of the Prince Anduin Wrynn. Welcomed by the statues of her friends in the Valley of Heroes, in her grief she broke down emotionally. Ashamed and enraged to be there alive while all her friends were gone and presumed dead. She came to believe Khadgar was wrong. He was wrong to have sent her back, and she felt that she shouldn’t be there, shouldn’t be alive if they were all gone, if he was gone.

tumblr_inline_p1kjcoxxaq1qg6701_500.png

In that moment she was reminded that she was there because Khadgar wanted her to be. He wanted her to live, to be happy, and to fulfill her dreams. So she managed to bounce back. She returned to Kalimdor and met her family and childhood friends again for the first time since leaving. She had stories to tell, and she talked a lot about Khadgar. After some time at home, Peregrïn left once more and her childhood friend Vansha asked to follow her for a bit.

After a year, Vansha confessed that he had romantic feelings for her, to which she politely declined. He accepted her rejection with understanding, giving her advice that while Khadgar’s death was a terrible tragedy, Perry still deserved to be happy and to love again. The little elf only smiled to his surprise and replied that she was happy already, and that loving the Archmage made her happy despite his fate. Vansha didn’t understand, believing her to be lonely. He felt that an existence without one’s love must be.

Yet once again she surprised him by replying, "No. I used to be lost, I had no home no matter where I was. Then I found him. He was home. And today I can go anywhere and I’ll be home because he is in my heart.”

Understanding came to him then and instead of leaving insisted on being by her side, becoming a bodyguard of sorts, and they traveled for some time together.

By that time Khadgar had met the Draenei in what was left of Draenor and had a room in Shattrath, one he had specifically asked for at the top at the tower so he could see the stars at night. It had always been a relaxing and comforting pastime for the Archmage. [Read the comic]

Years later Peregrïn was sent a letter telling her that the Alliance Expedition–or at least part of it—was alive on Draenor and that a new Portal had been opened. She is requested to go there, despite there being no mention of Khadgar in the letter, certain that he is there as well. If Draenor wasn’t completely destroyed, she was sure that he had found a way to live.

Reunited

tumblr_inline_p27s2prMtK1qg6701_500.png

18 years after being separated and she was back in Honor Hold, back in Draenor (now Outland). Not long after, she was able to fly to Shattrath to meet Khadgar, though she froze outside of his chambers afraid that too many things had changed between them. After all, it had been almost 20 years, what if he forgot her? What if it was too painful for him to see her again? Would seeing her open old wounds of the war? What if he had moved on? [Read the comic]

Vansha however quickly calmed her fears and Peregrïn finally walked towards Khadgar. She realized that she had been wrong to be afraid when he smiled towards her and took her into his arms. Suddenly, it was as if the past 18 years had just been a bad dream, where none of it mattered now that they were together again. Both were of course shaken, unnerved, and needed time to process what was happening. They just needed to be together again and to catch up.

Khadgar took her to his room and Perry was immediately flooded with emotions, the ambiance of the room making her nostalgic for their old room back in Dalaran. It was her only reminder, as that old room that no longer existed, for Dalaran had been ravaged during their time apart. The room was small but cozy, books and scrolls littered about, messy yet still somehow organized for the Archmage.

They vowed to never part from each other again. Shortly after being reunited in Outland the two decided to go back to Dalaran. They decided to build a life there, and Khadgar soon became part of the Council of Six. But a few years later their peaceful life was later abrupted by war once again. Khadgar (along with Perry) went to an alternate-timeline Draenor with the Horde and the Alliance in hopes of stopping the Burning Legion.

The two fought side by side during that time and they could recall the times when they had done the same in their youth, the fact that they were together again keeping their spirits up despite the destruction all around them.

Though it had only been two short years, the war felt like it lasted centuries and finally the Burning Legion was defeated. In consequence, Azeroth had been severely wounded by Sargeras, and the Horde now entered a new war against the Alliance [Read the comic]. The couple refused to take part in it. They made their way to Karazhan, looking for a way to heal their world of its terrible wound, and to start a new life filled with each other and peace.
