I told you we would see each other again.

Summary

Atiya is a simple, gentle soul, despite her imposing height and physique. She is slow to anger and would sooner take a beating than harm a hair on anyone's head. Atiya sees herself as a protector, not a fighter, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a situation that will cause her to actually fight someone.

She travels the world with Sitara, a young vitality goddess who wants to help whoever she can. During the winter months, they hole up in a remote forest village called Camphor, where they see their friends and Sitara can be watched over properly (seeing as she goes into a half-hibernation phase during this time).

Personality

At first glance, Atiya can be quite intimidating. Some people expect her to be harsh and even commanding due to her appearance. In actuality, however, she is a lot softer than she looks. She makes a conscious effort not to appear threatening unless she has to, and is actually rather sweet. This is amplified when Sitara is around; the goddess brings out her more talkative side, as well as her protective nature. Atiya very much believes in the hands of fate, and seems to passively move throughout life unless circumstances require her to act.

She is also very much in tune to the teachings of her people, despite their continued existence being uncertain. This is exhibited in the songs she sings and the stories she tells, in addition to her general attire and fighting style. Though she acknowledges her people's faults and imperfections, she does not shy away from her culture, and seems genuinely excited when others ask her about it, or seem to bear some knowledge of them.

History

Atiya was born to a race of draconian creatures known as the Varkh'ratha. As such, she is capable of breathing fire and adopting a more dragon-like form. She was taught how to fight from her people, and some of her scars are from the result of sparring matches- but she never had the drive many of the others did. Still, she felt something missing in her life; a charge, of sorts. All Varkh-ratha had one, be it a place, a person, a cause. So she left her home in search of one, shortly before they were ravaged by another warring nation, and for a time, felt incredibly out of place: too foreign for home, too foreign for the world she found herself in.

That is, until she met Sitara.

The little god quite literally gave her a purpose in life, and it is thanks to her that she finds her current friends, her appreciation of the life she lives, and a job, of sorts. She is incredibly devoted to Sitara, and anyone who she considers a friend, really. She thanks the fates every day for bringing this change into her life.

Relationships

Sitara

Atiya's charge and romantic partner. She's very protective of Sitara, and equally devoted to her. Their meeting was guided by the hands of fate as far as Atiya is concerned; Sitara did literally fall into her arms from the sky, after all. Atiya wouldn't have it any other way. Sitara is also the one who gave Atiya her current name.

Atiya's friend and the person her and Sitara trusts to keep Camphor safe while they're gone. Though the two don't exchange many words, they seem to have a fairly good understanding of each other, and hold a deep respect for one another. Atiya in particular seems to really like his ocarina playing.

Trivia

-Atiya's speaking voice is gravelly and deep, but her singing voice is rather beautiful, if unconventional
-Atiya came into being because I wanted a subversion to the typical "dragon / princess" trope
-Nothing unsettles Atiya more than someone being able to pick her up. Bonus points if they can do it without struggling
-One of Atiya's favorite hobbies is growing her own food, taught to her by Suru and Sitara
