Ember-rune is one of a set of triplets created by The Doctor, an underground scientist who fled from the Decepticons after being caught experimenting on his superior officer. Ember-rune is often the most chaotic of the group, though both Stormwall and Neoscape have their moments. He's an ADHD, potentially mildly autistic, gremlin who is open to new experiences and who can be exceptionally stubborn when he wants. Ember-rune also has a steadier side, and he's been called a good listener, occassionally giving out some good advice as well.

Backstory
The Doctor created Ember-rune, Neoscape, Stormwall, and their two siblings Freeway and Dawnglow as an attempt at designing artificial soldiers for the Autobots following the loss of the Allspark. When Optimus Prime and Autobot High Command rejected the idea of using them, the triplets (and almost their siblings, if not for the triplets' own efforts) were dragged off Cybertron with The Doctor as he fled. They remained outside the sphere of the war for some time, but eventually it caused the three to become separated - physically and on the battlefield - until several years later. After fleeing together, the three find sanctuary and a home with a crew of ex-Decepticons who take them in as their own.
After hearing about the circumstances of The Doctor's flight from the Decepticons, Prime and the AHC have consorns about his methods. They discontinue his project to stop any more potential experimentation. This just leads to Doctor leaving with his creations, or most of them at least.
