Appearance

Ayumu is an exceptionally short girl, standing at a mere 4 feet tall. Despite her child-like height, she does appear to have slight curves, giving her a feminine build. Her skin colour is on the pale side, but otherwise fair, and she has large deep blue eyes with thick eyelids that are often slanted in a sleepy position. Her hair exists out of long golden curls, reaching past her rear; her bangs are curled up to the sides, save for a single strand in the middle while her sidebangs curl inward, framing her face.

Ayumu's quirk allows her to summon an astral projection of herself. This projection is completely golden yellow like Ayumu's hair and glows. It doesn't take on the clothing she was wearing when it was summoned, however it is also vague, not having any real distinguishable details. The projection still has Ayumu's hair, accompanied by a pair of sheep ears and horns, as well as having descernable descernable eyes.

Going to school, she wears the standard U.A. School uniform, existing out of a grey blazer with dark teal stripes overtop of a formal white shirt with a red tie, as well as a similarly dark teal plated skirt over a pair of brown loafers with black knee-length socks. Her hero custume exists out of a light purple dress with red rims and short frills under a large deep purple and pink coat with a long tailcoat and large hood, as well as a pair of matching purple mary janes.

Personality

Ayumu sees the world through rose-coloured glasses, always the optimist. Being raised by two popular actors, she’s never had to miss anything in life and was never exposed to the real cruelties in life. Her outlook is proven to be rather addictive, making her a pretty convincing person. Naturally, her ability to act makes it easy for her to mask her emotions, making it hard to read her true feelings and intentions. On the other hand, her optimism and carefree upbringing has also resulted her in being absent-minded and gullible. She doesn't know a lot about "the real world" and can be pretty easy to make her believe silly things.

Socially however Ayumu is actually very unassertive. She’s used to people initiating conversation with her rather than the other way around, that she struggles to do it herself. This makes her look indifferent and even apathetic at times. She also tends to expect people to be exceptionally courteous around her. Despite her social status and optimism, she generally struggles making friends thanks to her being in such a different environment.

Ayumu tries to avoid fighting at all costs, though she commonly takes equipment with her to prepare if the occasion arises, she only fights with her astral if at all. Instead she commonly uses her quirk to scout, observe and rescue.

Abilities

When asleep, Ayumu creates some kind of projection of herself (she calls it her astral) that holds her consciousness. Her regular body is left behind in an asleep state. When woken up she's pulled back into her regular body again.

The astral can be made to be intangible at will, though she will always be tangible to humans and the objects she fell asleep touching. The astral is capable of levitation, but can only stray so far from her body. While technically capable of combat, the astral is as strong as her regular body, meaning she doesn’t pose any real threat in a fight.

Her quirk is regulated by a snot bubble, also signifying that she is using her quirk in the first place. The further away she is from her body, the bigger the bubble.

Story

Ayumu grew up the only child of two popular actors, leading her to grow up within the media herself. Being apart of movies and acting since she was very little, it’s about the only world Ayumu’s ever known, this only being reinforced once she developed her quirk. Ever since then her focus started lying more in advertising, though she still does regular acting jobs. She first used her quirk on camera as well, a complete accident, but it solidified her status as a child celebrity. Most of Ayumu’s life was spent working for the media; she was homeschooled, given basically everything she asked for, never really allowed to have close friends that could affect her status, etc.

However, as she was working with the media, she started meeting and portraying heroes, and became interested in the sector. When she saw a certain debate about heroes and quirk usage, she realized she wanted to do more with her life and quirk than sell people products. She decided that she wanted to becomes a hero and help people instead. The media ate it up, and is likely to have had a heavy hand in Ayumu’s recommendation into UA, as many of the pro heroes that recommended her had strong ties to the media.

Trivia

◇ Ayumu is a Japanese name meaning “walk”(Ayu) and “dream, vision”(mu). Ji-Yeong is Korean for “know, perceive, comprehend”(Ji) and “flower, petal, brave, hero”(Yeong).

◇ The nickname “Sleepy Sheepy” originates from the fact that she’s been in the media ever since she was little, and the name has stuck with her through the years. She however doesn’t like that nickname.

◇ Ayumu is unusually short for her age. This is not a side effect of her quirk, however. While she was never going to be exceptionally tall, her growth was purposefully hindered by certain diets and not getting any exercise, spending a lot of time sleeping for her quirk.

◇ Ayumu’s hero outfit also comes with some pieces of equipment, most importantly a pillow and blanket, though if given the opportunity she also brings earplugs and sleepy tea (or pills in case of emergencies).

◇ Ayumu needs at least 10 hours of sleep daily to function well.

◇ While Ayumu’s acting career mostly focussed on advertising, she’s also made numerous minor appearances on TV shows and movies, as well as co-starred on a show called “Quircodex”. "Quircodex" was a serialized show where the main characters would encounter a new person with an intersting quirk every episode and solve problems.

◇ In “Quircodex” there was a recurring joke where one of the other leads enjoyed drawing on Ayumu’s face when she was using her quirk and not looking. It started off as an improvised joke but it was positively received and as such returned regularly without Ayumu’s consent. This has led Ayumu to feel uneasy falling asleep in classrooms and other places where people often have access to markers.
