🔏 Crater

Crater, despite what his somewhat macabre appearance and abilities would suggest, has an undeniable charisma to him. He seems generally cool and collected, if a bit smug, often carrying himself with a dignified grace that seems borderline ethereal at times. Upon getting to know him, you'll find he's actually a witty smartass with ambition and ego in spades, although he can be quite insecure about his shortcomings and tries to disguise it by pretending he's better than everyone else. While some may compare him to the brains of an operation, Crater isn't above getting physical and beating down paricularly obnoxious people.

Crater was gifted with clairvoyance and spiritual affinity from an obsidian gem, granting him the abilities to communicate with the dead and supernatural entities, as well as gaining knowledge of things he'd otherwise have no way of knowing through the atmosphere. He primarily puts his powers to use as one of the Guild's advisors, combining his and Merci's visions and knowledge to help guide his judgement. Crater cannot do much to control his clairvoyance, as he naturally picks up "feelings" of whatever it is that's setting him off simply through proximity. These feelings become stronger and transition into visions to closer he comes to the source, and prolonged exposure can lead to headaches and dizziness. It only becomes truly unmanageable when exposed to extremely negative sources, which can overwhelm Crater to the point of panic, dread, and even a full meltdown in the most severe cases.

He's unsure on exactly how or when this happened, but some strange entity has latched itself onto Crater, and no amount of blessings, exorcisms or rituals have been able to remove it. It remains invisible to all others, including other beblunes with spiritual affinities (although they can sense its presence), and it doesn't seem to have any interest in communicating, assuming it even can. Crater has been unable to find any information about it, but he's taken to nicknaming it "The Bones" for its resemblance to a Beblune's skeleton of varying size. It only makes its presence known to him on occasion and hasn't done anything malevolent, at least not yet, but when Crater sees it come into uncomfortably close proximity to anyone, they seem to become overwhelmed with a deep, primal sense of dread that they can't explain. Interestingly enough, The Bones's presence alone has no effect on Crater, but the moment it touches him, he is overcome with a panic and dread-filled breakdown far worse than anything he's ever experienced.
