Profile

Horu is the keeper of the volcano. She lives inside of it, controlling the lava to keep the volcano from erupting and destroying everything around it. Its side is covered in a sprawling forest, and at its foot there's a large city that was built some thousand years ago. In its early days she would occasionally interact with them, but nowadays she prefers to keep to herself, mostly staying in her lair and bathing in the lava. To keep up to date in her isolation, she has a flock of starlings that inform her of anything she needs to know, from mortals' daily issues to the status of animal populations in the surrounding woods. If she needs to check something out herself, she can also shapeshift into a Hildebrandt's starling to observe in a disguised form.

Horu is the eldest and largest of her fellow demigods, as well as the strictest. Even they are intidimated by her. All she remembers of her previous life as a normal dragon is being alone, injured, and fleeing from something before being shot down out of the sky by humans, right as she was flying over the volcano that eventually became her home. She's never liked dealing with mortals since her transformation, and only accepts visitors under exceptional circumstances, raising or lowering the lava level to give or deny access to her inner chambers. Her solitairy lifestyle has made belief in her existence wane, with most people believing she is nothing but a children's story. She prefers it that way, because at least then she'll be left alone.

Horu's feathers are said to have magical properties, and that once in a blue moon, she may give one to someone she deems worthy. Some say it can be brewed into a healing brew so potent it can cure you of any injury or disease, while others claim that soaking it in red wine will give its consumer a fire breath akin to that of her own. Any who are desperate enough to try to visit her will have to climb all the way up the mountain, then climb into the mouth of the volcano and go down the spiral staircase along its walls. There, they will meet her and make their case, if the lava is even low enough to reveal the entrance to Horu's lair in the first place. Her starlings warn her of any mortals approaching with the intent to visit, upon which she will observe them in her own starling form and decide whether they will be granted access.
