About

Patient • Stark • Doubtful • Stubborn

Having spent 8 years of his life isolated from his peers he grew accustomed to being on his own and even prefers it. He's independent and can spend hours sitting and thinking through various theories and reading his magical books. Hudd is studious and reliable in any given situation. That said, he's stubborn to new experiences, preferring to stick with what he knows.

Despite having a large heart, Hudd struggles with expressing emotions and affection. His conversations can feel blunt or forced. Hudd is prone to honesty, whether it's good to say or not. Being hypercritical to everyone, himself included, is his greatest downfall.

History/Abilities

Magic
Includes hand gesture magic, spell creation and witchcraft (mostly deals with dried herbs and spells involving plants). Can also communicate to someone through reflections.

Bottomless Pit
A place where he keeps all of his things. Everything is in there, from water bottles to spell books. It’s a black hole he can make appear to reach or climb into and grab whatever he’s looking for. The actual location of it is in a cave...somewhere.

Imp Possessed
For more info on the shared abilities or general info on Cuyler the imp (the red monster living inside him), visit his page...whenever i get around to making it

What seems good isn’t always good. Sometimes it’s really awful and nobody knows it but you. That’s kind of what Hudd’s life was like. Sure, he grew up in the ‘special’ dome. The one with all those so called privileges? Everything was wonderful there, apparently. They went to class, had hobbies, partook in jobs, had special ability training and even had their own cozy room with -gasp- their own personal belongings. But at the end of the day, they were still experiments. Test tube babies created from all kinds of species. None of them were human, despite how human they all looked. They were all prisoners and all being manipulated to do the will of the whitecoats, from from ‘birth’. Everyone was oblivious, except Hudd. He knew far more than what the lab thought he knew. Yet, he was still trapped just like his peers. It was when he turned 10 that he became even more trapped and completely isolated.

Hudd and three other magic users (Maddy, Rudy and Pryor) were ordered to summon a type of celestial being. The lab had been tracking it for awhile, following leads and doing their research. Hudd and the others looked over all that the lab had on the being for a solid three months trying to get the summoning process right. They told the lab they had it but wanted to spend a few more days looking it over once more. One of the higher ups decided they didn’t need to look it over and demanded they go through with it right away.

Well, a few wrong drawings and misworded cantations later and it was the most horrific event Hudd had ever witnessed. A young, short creature that looked like a real life devil emerged. He was fine at first, gazing curiously with his innocent blue eyes, body unmoving. It was when the lab tried to capture him that all hell broke out. Nobody got within eight feet of the creature without their throat being ripped out. Each throat he ripped was followed by a blue glow that the creature sucked in through his mouth. His last stop was crouching over Pryor as he bashed the boy’s head into the floor again and again and again. At that point Rudy grabbed Hudd, lifted his shirt and burned a rune straight down his spine. The devil child began to vanish like he was being sucked towards Hudd. Into Hudd. Rudy had bound them together. It got rid of him, for a moment. But Hudd began to feel weak. His head throbbed and chest burned. They wouldn’t be bound for long as the child drained Hudd’s life energy from him. His body stopped moving and he collapsed, blacking out.

A few days later he awoke in a bed. Across from him, still asleep was Pryor and in a bed next to him was his friend Aly. Rudy sat in a chair next to Pryor. ‘What happened?’ was the first question that ran through his head. He even tried to say it, but a child’s voice kept overpowering his thoughts. Thankfully Rudy spoke up, explaining the situations.

One magic user dead, one with brain damage, ten lab workers dead. Hudd? He had the pleasure of saving the dome by his ‘volunteering’ to have the imp bound to him. And since the imp, named Cuyler, was draining his life Rudy took it upon himself to connect Aly to the binding situation. You know, since she had a bottomless pit of energy and all. Oh and also, it wasn’t undoable. This was permanent and there was no telling how it would affect them long term.

Long term. The binding made Cuyler active and in control of Hudd’s body for the entire duration the sun was out. While the sun was gone, Hudd could be in control. The only true tell between the two was their eyes. During the day, Cuyler kept his blue eyes, despite stealing all of Hudd’s looks. During the night, Hudd kept his red eyes, and his own looks.

Long term. The two shared abilities. Cuyler could use his and he could use Cuyler’s. Neither of them were very good at using the other’s abilities. However, Hudd eventually figured out he could do a partial transform into Cuyler’s looks. The red skin, two horns and devilish tail. It wasn’t a bad look on him, but he doubted anybody else would approve.

Long term. Hudd grew lonely and hated himself. He hated how the imp stole from Aly, through him. He hated how the imp killed one of his friends. He hated how the imp made Pryor go mental. He hated not being able to see his friends during the day. There was no way to visit at night, due to the strict curfew. He also hated the lab for forcing them to do something they weren’t prepared for. He hated the lab for allowing Cuyler to take over his life. He hated them for erasing the memories of the incident and then any memories of him, to avoid confusing the other experiments.

He was alone and yet he wasn’t. There was always Cuyler to talk to. And as the years went by a soft spot grew for the imp. Cuyler was six years younger than Hudd. For the first couple of years he could hear Cuyler’s cries, begging to see his mother again. Cuyler didn’t seem to like the situation any better than he did. And the countless times he blubbered apologies for the bad he had done. Even Hudd could understand that the kid had just been scared. He panicked. It was the labs fault for the kid even being brought there. Everything was their fault in the end.

It all made him sick and very sad. He wanted to get the imp back to his mother, free Aly from her enslavement and free himself. He wanted to fix as much as he could and focused all of his time researching how he could possibly undo Rudy’s magic.

Until he turned 18 when him and some of his peers were kicked out of the dome in the middle of the night. They were left to fend for themselves in a horrific world of monsters and demons all happily living in their wasteland of a world.
