Avi is female.

Species name: (Undecided as of yet. Sort of dragon/bird like.)

Design changes (Note to self whenever I commission future art.)
- Horns to be more 'swirly'
- Remove grey leggings/undershirt/gloves. Close up robe so skin on top of her breasts are not visible.
- Long yellow wing feathers to come out of lower back instead of bottom of wings
- Six feather on head
- Six long yellow feathers on head/wings to look more like feathers.
- Remove two gold tips at ends of hair
- New set of clothes so she better fits in with setting of the world I want her in.

Avi
- Female
- Has 'stalks' (For lack of a better word) with feathers on the end coming out the top/back of her head. Six in total.
- Disdainful of humans in general
- Very little capability for offensive magic. More adept at healing magic.
- Knows how to use weapons like a sword and spear, however in a pinch will maul anyone with the talons she keeps hidden under her gloves. Untrimmed talons were frowned upon in her society once but now they are another weapon she will utilize.
- She sometimes misses the extravagant and colourful clothes and accessories she once wore. Now she must make do with whatever she can find. She mainly covers herself with a black cloak to hide herself even when she thinks she is alone.
- Has one daughter who she fiercely protects above all else.
- Always on the move as staying in one place can be dangerous.
- Tends to stay in and around forests as it is what she is familiar with.
- Has a few human friends but was very reluctant to trust them for a long time.

Background 
- Grew up in the forest. Her clan fled their original home some years before and now had a smaller home in a deeper part of their forest where they thought they were safe.
- Arranged marriage with a male from another clan when 20 years old. Though they did not fall in love, they were friends.
- Avi tended to the clan tree, making sure it thrived.
- Had daughter, Mira, a few years later.
- Home was destroyed a few months after daughter's birth.
- Avi was with two other survivors before one decided to go off on her own, thinking she was better of that way. The other fell in love with a human farmer who sheltered them for a week. He decided to stay with her while Avi did not agree. The farm was too close to human habitation.
- On her own with Mira for the last year.
- Wants to find a place to settle down but is afraid.
- Searches for another clan to join but has not been able to find one, only the remnants.

Characteristics of her species
- Wings are always feathered and can come in any sort of colours and combinations.
- Horns also have a variety of appearances. (Ex. curled, straight, curving, long, or just being little nubs.)
- Many different eye colours, including colours not present in human eyes. Always two toned with slitted black pupil.
- Inherent magical abilities, though it varies by person how powerful it is. Some have almost no capability for it.
- Many have slightly longer and sharper canine teeth.
- Sexual Dimorphism. Males and females have physical differences.
- Language includes bird-like sounds. May sometimes be mistaken for bird song.
- Vocal chords do not develop enough for human speech until around 5-6 years old.
- Excellent eyesight.
- Sense of smell and sound are no different than humans.
- The magic of both males and females is released upon death. Can be 'harvested' for use.
- Attracted to shiny, colourful and/or glittery things.
- Omnivorous.
- Their previous forms were something akin to a feathered dragon. Most of the non-human features the species displays were all once part of their previous forms. Some of their instincts remain from that as well. (Ex. Territorial behavior is displayed because they would drive off any intruders that trespassed on their territory. They are attracted to shiny items as they once used to hoard them in their dens like their mightier dragon once-cousins do. Males generally hoarded metals and such to attract a female mate. Their love of colourful clothing comes from them once using their colourful plumage on their wings to attract mates as well.)


Males
- Bulkier than females with larger wings
- More stamina for longer flights
- Four horns on head. Secondary horns tend to be smaller.
- Offensive magic tends to be more powerful when born with the ability.
- Cannot sire more of their kind unless mating with a female of their own species. Will always sire full human children if mating with humans.
- Innate magic is released from the body upon death. If left alone, it will disperse into the ground to nourish it. When 'harvested', it cannot be used to heal, grant longer lives or revive the recently deceased. It can be used to strengthen spells.
- Slightly more aggressive than females. Can be territorial to unknown human males and even to unknowns of their own kind when approached.
- Tend to crave meat more often than females

Females
- Daintier than males
- More agile than males. Faster in short bursts.
- Only two horns on head.
- Healing magic tends to be more powerful when born with the ability.
- Females always give birth to children that are fully their own kind, regardless whether the male is human or one of their own.
- Innate magic is released from the body upon death. If left alone, it will disperse into the ground to nourish it. When 'harvested', it can be used to heal, grant longer lives and even revive the recently deceased. It can also be used to strengthen spells.
- Can be territorial to unknown human females and even unknowns of their own kind when pregnant.
- It can be dangerous for females to fly during pregnancy so most stay grounded after the first couple months.

Society
- Once had a thriving society before it was destroyed by humans.
- Were wary of outsiders.
- They tended to live in forests, generally having a massive tree in the center of their cities. This tree was magically strengthened and cultivated so they could build homes in and around it.
- Males and females each had a separate 'Elder' they would elect to be their voice. These two elders were expected to work together to lead their society.
- Many of their kind worship a being said to have transformed them into their current forms. This being or 'god' has since left the world but they honor him for saving them from extinction in their previous forms.
- Believe in a cycle. That death is not the end but a beginning for other life to thrive or a transformation of sorts. After death, the magic left behind by the body was used to nourish their home tree. (In a way continuing a cycle.)
- Enjoyed creating clothes that were both extravagant and colourful.
- Love jewelry.
- Intentionally touching their wings is considered very rude unless someone is familiar with them.
- Trim the talons on their hands as it can be more difficult to do certain jobs with them fully untrimmed (Ex. Sew clothes, grasp small objects, build, etc.). Throughout the generations, it became less acceptable to leave talons untrimmed talons because most avians always cut them down.

World
- World was once full of magic. When it began to fade, many old magic-using creatures began to leave for another.
- Currently home to several varieties of humanoid species. Humans, Avians, Naga, etc.
- Most creatures currently are incapable of magic. Avians and a few other humanoids an exception. A few humans can show potential for it as well.
- Dominant species of the world are humans. Most others have been forced to flee or risk subjugation.

Conflict with humans
- The magic left behind by both males and females after death is sought after by humans. The females' in particular as even the most righteous and kind humans might be willing to sacrifice the life of a stranger to save one of their own. As there are many humans who are greedy and selfish, they are perfectly willing to hunt down their kind solely for the magic they leave behind.
- Both avian and humans tended to stay away from one another up until about 100 years ago. They finally began to establish trade around that time. Around 50 years ago, a female avian fell in love with a human. They married and lived together for several years. One day, they were attacked by a monster. They managed to kill it but both were mortally wounded by the time help, in the form of several human soldiers, arrived. Thinking she would die first, the avian begged the human soldiers to save her husband by using her magic after her body perished as she was in no position to call upon it. She did die, but so did the human right after her. Unsure what to do, the human soldiers still did as the avian asked. To their surprise the dead husband returned to the world of the living. When before he had no capability for magic, he showed it now. The news of this 'miracle' spread far and wide. This was the catalyst that began the hunt for the avians.

Current situation
- The number of their species has dwindled drastically. Their society has been fractured as their homes and strongholds were destroyed. Many of their kind live in seclusion, far away from humans.
- Some live on the fringes of human society but it is dangerous for them if they are found.
- The hunts for them continue as many humans desire their power or wish to save the lives of their loved ones/revive those that have perished.
- The horns, wings and feathers on avians are considered a prized possessions in some places so some avians have taken to removing their own to try and blend in with the humans. At least at first glance, as their eyes cannot be changed.

Avi (hypothetical original form)
- 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 wings, 1 tail.
- Smaller than typical dragons. About the 20-25 feet in length, from head to tail. Wingspan is maybe a little longer.
- Wings are feathered and large compared to body
- Horns are same.
- Feathered tendrils on the back of her head are much longer and can be moved about.
- Feathered tendrils on the lower part of her wings are longer and come out of her lower back instead, right above her tail.
- Long tail.
- Feet and talons are more bird-like.
- Not all of her is covered in feathers.
- Sharp teeth and talons for tearing prey.
