Although Sylvan is a naturally compassionate being, they prefer keeping to themself. There isn't much to know about where they came from—all they remember is opening their eyes to a sweet-smelling, lush forest in full bloom. That, and the echo of a single purpose in their head: to aid in the forest's growth.

Sylvan ventured to the forest outskirts for the first time. Their instincts had previously discouraged leaving the forest, but after an accident where they tripped over a tree root, they tumbled all the way down a hill. As they dusted the brush off their clothes, they suddenly realized they were in a foreign area completely unobstructed by trees. Their toes sank into uneven ground made of soft, pearly sand warmed by the sun's radiance. In front of them, an infinite, rippling body of blue water went on beyond the horizon.
Admist their exploration of this new environment, their heightened senses picked up something below them. Sylvan reached down and dug until they reached a layer of wet sand, and even further until they unearthed an unfamiliar, oblong thing. As they ran their nail over its many grooves, the thing, which turned out to be an animal, recognized Sylvan's presence as a friend of nature. It made a popping sound and spat out its treasure into their hand, that treasure being a small, lusturous pearl.
Never before had Sylvan seen something so beautiful, and something so worth coveting.
