Faylan
Faylan is a moonshadow elf from Xadia who moved to Katolis as a spy to send back information to his people. He is a user of moon magic and specializes in defensive combat.
Although he is loyal to his people, he has a soft spot for many of the humans that he met while living in the human kingdom. He hopes that one day the citizens of Xadia and the humans can bring peace to the land and live in harmony.

Trivia
- In order to keep his human disguise going during the day, Faylan has a moonstone necklace enchanted with the illusion spell given to him by his grandmother.
- He also carries around multiple magical gems and trinkets to help him with his magic when the moon isn't available, many of which were enchanted by himself.
- During his time in Katolis, he became romantically interested in a girl there, but had to break things off to protect her from the truth of his origins.
- When in his human disguise, Faylan goes by the name Terrance.
- Due to his occupation, he has mastered a convincing human accent. Although, he sometimes forgets to switch back to his native accent when not disguised.

Background
Faylan grew up in the homeland of the moonshadow elves, the Moonshadow Forest, with his family. He had a happy childhood with his parents and four siblings, of which he is the second oldest. His parents taught him how to defend himself, as his mother is a weaponsmith and his father is a guard. Faylan was also very close to his grandmother, a strong mage, who taught him all of the moon magic that he knows.
Early on, Faylan decided that he wanted to learn how to be a mage like his grandmother, but when tensions rose between Xadia and the humans, he felt drawn to help his people in any way that he could. Instead, he became a spy and was sent on a reconnaissance mission to Katolis to study them and send information about them back to Xadia. He disguised himself as a human using illusion magic and got a job as a servant in the castle to be as close as possible to the royal family.
During his three years in Katolis, Faylan learned a great deal about the humans and their culture. He even grew to like most of them. Still, he had a job to do and payed close attention to whatever happened especially within the castle walls. When the assassination attempt on the king and prince happened, he decided to flee the city instead of risking getting caught and make his way back to Xadia.
Personality
Ever since he was a young child, Faylan has had a happy soul. He enjoyed playing in the forest and greeting everyone he saw with a smile. While not the most energetic of his family, he is certainly the most optimistic and warmhearted. When anybody is in a bad mood or has a personal problem, they can count on Faylan to lend an ear and give some encouragement that everything will be alright.
Faylan is also very curious about the world around him. He's always interested in discovering new things, whether it be plants, animals, or even shiny stones. This natural curiosity is also what led him to want to explore the world outside the Moonshadow Forest. He is also interested in learning about magic. Not only moon magic, but the other sources of magic too, even if he can't actually use it.
Although he is positive most of the time, there are times where he gets frustrated at the world. He has a tendency to get impatient and has to remind himself to relax. The tension between the Xadians and humans makes him feel sad, as he wishes that there was peace between everyone. Even though his people hate the humans, living with them and seeing their day-to-day lives has given him a new perspective on them. He's hesitant to admit it openly, but he actually enjoyed living with them even if he feared what they'd do if they discovered his true identity.
