Ooft this is my favourite of all the babs I've ever designed ;w; chompy insect-kitty! ♡
☆ She's adorable, if a little dangerous! Like any cat she lacks empathy for anything she considers prey ... and that's almost everything smaller than her. Luckily for most people, she's only around 20cm high at her shoulders, and her jingly bell alerts them to her presence.
☆ Her eyesight as a whole is very poor, but the four highest, smaller eyes work better than the lower, larger eyes. They primarily detect motion and changes in brightness.
☆ She heavily relies on her 'whiskers' - which are actually paired capitate antennae - to know what's going on around her. The antennae are covered in olfactory and trichoid sensilla, which detect odours, movement (air motion and vibration) and taste.
☆ Her scythes and mandibles look smooth from afar but are actually finely serrated to grip onto things. Whilst hunting she catches and secures the victim with her scythes. Her hollow mandibles pierce then inject digestive fluid to liquefy the tissues of her prey. When this process is over, she is able to suck the digested tissue through the mandibles. Due to this process her mouth contains no tongue, and her teeth are mostly for show.
☆ She has no fur, just velvety skin. Her scythes and mandibles are hard like bone. Her pawpads and the underside of her forearms and tail are squishy. Her antennae are kinda squishy too and covered in tiny hairs called sensilla, but she's v sensitive of people trying to touch them and will likely bite you. :'3
