Ajax Spearix (Jaxson) (Medieval)

Personality:
Ajax is very sneaky and curious. He often wanders off to explore the forest or village despite him technically not being allowed to leave the castle grounds. He commonly meets up with Croatone and Kakatasu in the forest, generally annoying them and getting up to no good, though they do consider him a friend ((sort of)). He really enjoys exploring new places and going on adventures.
He's a bit devious and likes to trick people, though he tries to keep his actions more in check since taking up responsibilities in the Banned District. However, that doesn't stop him from pulling pranks, going against the rules or in general acting rather childish. He's easily excitable and doesn't like to follow rules, and often times will go and pester Queen Ember just because he can.
Despite his hard exterior ((and his questionable sanity)), Ajax is a pretty warm-hearted person towards those he cares about. While he doesn't have many friends in this time, he's doggedly loyal and would not hesitate to lay his life down for any of them. Most people that don't know him personally just know him as "the crazy executioner", because his position as the Royal Assassin is kept a secret ((to avoid other kingdoms attempting to off him themselves)). People tend to think he's not very sane due to his overly excitable personality, including while he's executing people, generally "off" behaviour, and the fact that he's rarely seen and little is known about him. Most of the other officials in the castle don't know his position either, and ofteintimes people have questioned why the executioner resides in the castle, especially one that seems he could be a danger to Ember's safety. The only people who know of his true job are Queen Ember, the Head Royal Guard Sky, and the next highest ranked Assassin Barry.  Oftentimes Ember will send Sky or Ant ((the Head Guard, who doesn't know of his true position)) to watch over Ajax if she gets annoyed of him bugging her for so many hours.
Ajax has sticky fingers and will snatch up anything that catches his eye. He especially enjoys gems, and has been caught red-handed attempting to take things from Ember's room on multiple occasions, or from other places around the castle. The only reason she doesn't care too much about this is because she knows that, instead of selling the items for the tons of money they're probably worth, he just stashes them away in his room and she can go and get them back whenever she wants. He has a tendency to hoard valuables as well as foods that he likes in various places in his room.

Habits:
- He’ll chase after any small rodent he sees, especially squirrels. He hates them and will most likely kill them on sight.
-  Has a tendency to jump out of windows, since he’s used to just jumping out of the castle window into the nearby trees to get outside. He used to do this in his previous days as an assassin a lot as well. Sometimes this leads to him crashing into windows that actually are covered.
- Kicks down doors a lot, he hates them.
- Commonly steals items with little thought about what the consequences may be, though his intention isn't to sell them, he just likes hoarding things.
-  It’s not uncommon to find Ajax in a tree or on a rooftop, as he quite  enjoys climbing and jumping around as well as having a clearer view of things around him.

Relationships: 
Ember , Queen - Ember is one of Ajax’s best friends. He often goes off to her room to pester her just because they happen to be located near one another, and, despite him not technically supposed to be in there she often doesn’t deny him. They talk a lot and he often accompanies her when she goes somewhere. Normally she doesn’t mind his bothering, though it can get on her nerves when she’s trying to work and he’s trying to get her attention for one reason or another. Typically those would be the times that she sends either Sky or Ant to go guard ((more like babysit)) him instead. She doesn’t mind him being in the same room with her as she works, in fact it’s not that uncommon for him to read his Hex books and the two can sit in quiet company- though that doesn’t stop him from trying to snag her attention now and again.

Sky , Head Royal Guard - Sky is Ajax’s other best friend. Oftentimes whenever Sky is put on duty guarding Ajax he’ll accompany him to wherever he wants to go outside of castle grounds, despite Ajax technically not supposed to be leaving ((Well, I’m the head royal guard, and as long as I’m guarding you on  your adventures… No harm done, right?)). The two enjoy walking about the town together, chatting, and oftentimes will go to various food places.  They also hang out around the castle and sometimes Ajax will go find  Sky to bother instead when he can’t find Ember. The three also hang out together a lot, especially since Sky is usually on duty guarding Ember, after all.

Ant , Head Guard - The two don’t know each other super well, and Ant probably just finds Ajax annoying. Ajax doesn’t particularly like or dislike Ant, though they spend a decent amount of time together because Ember makes Ant stick around Ajax now and again. Ant mostly just tries to get Ajax to follow the rules and be calm and good, and the two don’t have a whole ton of chit chat or personal conversations. They really don’t know that much about one another, and Ant probably questions why the hell Ajax even lives there or why Ember puts up with him.

Barry , Assassin - The two mostly just have a business relationship and don’t hang out very often outside of relaying messages/information and training, or sometimes when the two are sent out on missions together. Barry sometimes finds Ajax annoying and thinks that he’s honestly an unstable and unreliable source of power, though he won’t go against Queen Ember’s word, and he does understand that Ajax is a really powerful weapon for them to have on their side. He does, however, make sure she knows of his concerns, but he lets her come to her own decisions. He might be a little jealous that Ajax is the Head Assassin and he’s the second assassin, though he keeps his emotions in check ((mostly)). Besides, everyone else thinks he's the head assassin anyways...

Croatone & Kakatasu , Wanderers - He  met Croatone and Kakatasu originally in the dungeon he resided in when he was younger, though he has come across them again on several occasions since. They live within the  Banned District’s territory at this point, so he often goes and visits  them at their treehouse or follows them around the forest or town.
      - Croatone: Croatone puts up with Ajax, and while he doesn’t dislike him he can get rather annoyed with him at times, due to him being more serious and a bit asocial. He’d prefer it Ajax didn’t stick around while they were exploring or doing important things, though Kaka usually invites him over anyways. Croatone considers Ajax more of an acquaintance or a buddy than as a close friend ((despite not having many other friends anyways)), though agrees that he comes in handy sometimes, especially when it comes to his magical abilities.
     -  Kakatasu: Generally the two get along pretty well and enjoy spending time together as well as exploring around. It’s not uncommon for Kaka to be the one who wants to let Ajax to tag along while Croatone would prefer to have him to go elsewhere.

Anthony/AN , Commoner - His old best friend from when he was younger. He was roommates with him when Ajax had first started getting into the assassin lifestyle. He was also the person who introduced him to hair dye, which started Ajax off with his silver-styled hair. Ajax was always very clingy of him and the two got up to no good a lot. AN typically tried to calm Ajax’s tendencies to get up to no good, but there have been a few times where he’s promoted them. Presumably AN has passed on due to old age, illness or something else of the sort… though Ajax isn’t sure what, because he  randomly went missing and he hasn’t heard from him since. But it’s been several hundred years, so more than likely he’s dead by now, unless he's found a way to become immortal...?

Backstory: 
-  When Ajax was young he was a trouble maker, rebelling against basically anything he was told to do with little to no reason. He got into fights a lot with the other kids in his town, and even with adults sometimes, and he also developed his sticky fingers early in life. Nobody really trusted him, including his own parents. People in his town typically avoided him or chased him off when he got too close to them, despite his young age.
- When he was about fifteen he decided that he'd be better off on his own, and that he didn't need these other people. So he ended up packing up his stuff and leaving the town, starting off his new life of frequently traveling between locations.
- He lived on the streets for a long time, getting up to no good and stealing most of the things he needed to survive. He often traveled from town to town because eventually he'd build up a bad reputation wherever he was, or get in trouble with the law. When he was around eighteen he was traveling between two towns and stumbled upon an abandoned dungeon. Upon entering it for shelter ((and also to see if there was anything valuable inside he could steal)), he found all sorts of Hex books, and started learning Dark, Regeneration, and Enhancement Magics from them. With nothing else to spend his time doing, he focused all his energy on learning magic and quickly got better and better at it. He spent several years just being in or near the dungeon, and started exploring deeper into it as his magical abilities grew and he became more confident.
- He ended up meeting Croatone and Kakatasu in the dungeon for the first time when he was twenty-four. The two of them had been recently banished from their kingdom on the false claim that they stole the king's crown, and had been sent into the dungeon to perish. At first he fought the two of them, but they managed to outsmart him and he nearly died due to the severe injuries he sustained during the fight ((which would have surely killed him, had it not for his budding ability with regeneration magic)). The encounter left him quite shook up, but also showed him how powerful his magic could be and made him focus more time into learning regeneration magic to help him in future situations like these. Luckily the two sides calmed down before anything else could happen to him, and Ajax reluctantly agreed to help them find their way back out of the dungeon.
- Ajax lived in the dungeon for many more years, reading up on all sorts of Hex books and honing his magical skills in several different magic types. In his forties he decided that it was about time to set off and leave his dungeon behind, to go back to civilization and explore what he could do there.
- He quickly went back to his trouble making tendencies, though this time with a bit more stealth and profession. He became an assassin, or a hitman for hire, and became roommates with Anthony, also called AN. He took on quite a few jobs while he was friends with AN, though he kinda sucked at it at first. AN also introduced him to hair dye, which is what started Ajax off on his silver hair style.
-  At some point AN went missing. Ajax wasn't sure what had happened to him or where he had gone, and searched for him for a long time. Eventually he had to move on, and with a combination of the place not feeling the same without AN and the law being on his trail, he moved off to a new place to live.- Eventually he started getting into real trouble with the various towns he lived in, getting kicked out of them as he went along instead of leaving them by  choice. He even started getting in trouble with entire kingdoms, and was  banished from multiple of them during his time wandering.
- Several hundred years later and after being chased out of many of the kingdoms, Ajax made his way towards the Banned District. He had quite the reputation for being a bad person at this point, and had even been attempted to be executed by several kingdoms before, though due to little knowledge on what kinds of magic he had, how strong they were, and what exactly they could do, none of these attempts had succeeded thus far. While the Banned District is known for taking in all those banished from other kingdoms, they had planned to execute him once he arrived, likely as a show of good faith to the other districts, who basically unanimously disliked him. He went through an attempted hanging, which didn't work due to his regeneration magic. Ember realized this, and was going to have an individual who knew Light Magic come to counter his Dark Magic, though he managed to convince her that she'd rather have him alive than dead. He said he'd work as an assassin for her, and he'd be able to easily kill off anyone she wanted or needed dead. Ember ended up agreeing to this, and that's how he ended up becoming the Royal Assassin for the Banned District.
- About twenty years later, a world war broke out among all of the kingdoms. The Banned District was heavily targeted, and Ajax ended up dying on the battlefield. Only a few fights after his death both Sky and Ember died in the same battle, and the kingdom fell. The other kingdoms followed suit, and before long they had completely destroyed themselves. What survivors remained were picked up by Croatone and Kakatasu, who led them to a relatively safe area that would eventually become Cube City in the modern times.
