Mythology

Have you seen it? Off in those woods we got ourselves a living legend! Some say it's just a fawn spotted rabbit, but there's no denying its an otherworldly being.
It's got six tails all filled with magic, and plants bound to do its bidding. Heck, they grow from its very fur. I've never seen these woods so lively before it showed up.
We truly are blessed to have our little guardian.

Lore

When a deer spirit and kitsune met no one would have expected a partnership to occur. It was blasphemy, a desecration of the gods, but as the pair ran and frolicked through the woods you would only think them old friends. The deer had shown itself, trusting the fox, and the hunter was respectful, showing no ire or ill intent. They enjoyed each others company, a silent friendship blooming between unlikely friends.

Perhaps the gods were angry, or the people who hunted in that forest, as they vowed to hunt down each of the creatures. Poisoning the kitsune it would have surely died if the spirit deer did not purify it of the toxins. Binding the cervidae in a special trap the forest would have perished if the tricky fox did not know how to free it. Indeed, they relied on each other and grew closer for it.

To call their bond a courtship is incorrect, as an incorporeal being simply can not, but something truly magical must have occurred. The forest was filled with eerie light, a sign of something mystical or foreboding. The emotion was palpable, the energy raw, and what lay at their feet after the meeting was a small but shimmering sprout. It grew at an alarming rate, nourished by the fruit of the land and power of its parent. What had been no more than a sprig grew into a towering plant within an instant that bloomed gorgeous yellow flowers, and in the twilight dawn it blossomed, a new spirit birthed within the forest for the first time.

The newborn, already full grown and a full-fledged demigod, blinked at its parents. While its form did not match them its appearence was more than apparent. The soft orange of a deer, the spotting of a fawn, and the magical tails of a kitsune. Such a being could only be theirs and the pair looked on fondly as it ran away. As the magic faded the kitsune and deer knew their partnership must come to an end. For their own safety and that of the wood they parted ways, but they knew their home was in safe paws as the new protector bound through the trees.

Observations

As a rabbit, they are very skiddish and shy. Quiet and elusive, they stick to the shadows and away from dangerous eyes. They are careful not to put themself in harmsway, but curiosity often gets the better of them. If discovered or if they hear something they will immediately run off, fresh plants blocking their trail and making it impossible to follow.
Does not speak; thought to be mute but is unconfirmed. Uses body language and actions as only communication.
Often seems distant. It's hard to tell what they are thinking, if anything beyond that of an animal, but other times they seem very wise.

From their deer side, they are very flightly and observant. Mixed with their natural prey fear it makes for a very aware creature. It's hard to sneak up on them, if not impossible, and often they dart away without warning or calmly disappear behind their own plant creations.

As a spirit, they can control plants to form/do whatever is desired. Making bridges, slopes, tunnels, using ivy, roots, stems, ect. Whatever area they pass through is always in better shape than before they arrived.
They are a protector for the the woods. Mending, healing, and protecting the plants they are respected by forest life and coveted by humans.

Being part kitsune they are tricky, sly, and crafty. While their shyness/prey instinct is often overwhelming, when in a bind such skills are invaluable.
Can transfigure self into a small stone/shrub/stump/ect when needing to hide. Also used to rest without being disturbed. They can also alter other objects and plants to create illusions such as a wall or impassable path.

They are a solid, corporeal being. While they can create a misty trial and surrounding fog any 'fading' or blurring of their body is an illusion. That being said, their mist smells heavenly and is not the spooky, otherworldly, or godly presence it should be.
