Xóchitl is an independent and headstrong young woman that puts great emphasis on family and culture. Having grown up with little money, she's a fairly humble individual that finds pleasure in the simplest of things. And because of her Aztec roots stemming from her mother's side, Xóchitl is deeply spiritual and lives her life freely with little regard of past mistakes or grievances. She firmly believes that one should keep moving forward no matter what, as there is no way to turn back time and redo what has already been done. She lives in the moment and enjoys exploring new places to not only expand her horizons, but to form new connections with others. And with her infectious enthusiasm, it's not difficult for her to find new friends.

But there are times when Xóchitl's overt enthusiasm boils over and her brash nature takes hold. Being the headstrong individual she is, Xóchitl will often run head first into something new the minute she sets her mind on it. This, combined with her strong sensitivity to emotions, can unintentionally cause emotional bursts that end up being counter-productive to her plans. Her temper in particular is known to flare the second she feels challenged, a trait she is aware of but still struggles to keep under control.

"What's done is done. What's gone is gone. One of life's lessons is always moving on. It's okay to look back to see how far you've come but keep moving forward."

Parents

Xòchitl's mother is from Aztec descent while her father is from Spanish descent. Her mother was born and raised in Mexico and owns a lot of land that was passed down to her from her ancestors. It isn't easy maintaining so much land with so little money, so Xóchitl's mother works multiple jobs to keep herself afloat. Xóchitl's father was born and raised in Spain where he lived in poverty and struggled to survive day to day. He joined the Spanish Mafia at a young age for protection and slowly made his way up the ranks as he grew older. They happened to meet when Xóchitl's father came to Mexico on a mission to find a Stand Arrow. His boss, whom Xóchitl's father was very close to, wanted a Stand Arrow for himself for an unknown reason. The boss told nobody except for Xóchitl's father that he believed the arrow could give someone a special power called a "Stand". Xóchitl's father didn't fully understand, but he kept this information secret. Rumors of a lost arrow in Mexico reached the boss, so he sent various men to retrieve it. Xóchitl's father happened to find it first in the most unexpected of places. It was in the hands of Xóchitl's mother, whose family had had the arrow for many generations already.

Realizing that bringing back the Stand Arrow could give him a higher position in the mafia and make the boss stronger, Xóchitl's father decided to steal the arrow from the woman who had it. He befriended her in the span of a month and tried getting her to tell him the arrow's location. However, the arrow was very important to her family and culture, so she never told him anything. Xóchitl's father was persistent though, so while his colleagues gave up and went back to Spain, he remained. He spent almost an entire year there, using everything he knew to try to find that arrow. He kept contact with his boss to a minimum because he didn't want anyone else to find the arrow first. However, one year in Mexico was all it took to change his perspective.

Xóchitl's father realized that he liked living in Mexico. He loved the environment, he loved the culture, he loved the food, and he realized he loved Xóchitl's mother too. He learned so much about her during his stay there, and it was her who had showed him everything that Mexico had to offer. He cared for her deeply, and his mission didn't mean anything to him anymore. He decided to start a new life in Mexico, away from the corrupt life he lived before. He faked his own death and had a false letter sent back to Spain detailing the "accident." Shortly after, he proposed to Xóchitl's mother and they got married one month later. He never discovered where the arrow was hidden, but he naively thought that it wouldn't affect him in the future. Xóchitl herself was born two years later.

Stand Awakening

On the morning of Xochitl's fifteenth birthday, she and her mother visited their family's underground alter to pay respects to their god of worship (aka a stone sculpture of Quetzalcoatl). And because the day marked her transition into woman hood, Xochitl's mother encouraged her to speak to the god herself and ask for his continued protection. Xochitl did just that and spent some quiet moments down at the alter as her mother prepared for the festivities aboveground. However, a sudden earthquake hit at that very moment causing not only massive breaks to appear in the underground room, but also a special item to fall from Quetzalcoatl's stone mouth. The item in question was a single arrow with a golden beetle head that fell and ultimately shattered upon impact with the stone ground. Thinking a family heirloom or some important artifact may have just broken in front of her, Xochitl panicked and quickly rushed to grab the arrow to attempt to fix it after the earthquake subsided. In the heat of the moment however, she accidentally cut her hand with the golden arrowhead. That, and she heard her mother's footsteps rapidly approaching her from upstairs. Without a second thought, Xochitl placed the broken arrow back where it had come from--the statue's mouth--and acted as if she never saw it when her mother came bursting in. Thinking she'll be able to fix it later, Xochitl followed her mother upstairs and prepared to celebrate her quinceñera--completely unaware of the arrow's true power or the significance of the cut on her hand.

Xóchitl's health declined for a short while after that, with her dealing with many flu like symptoms and minor hallucinations. Although she didn't let it hinder her work, Xóchitl would often see traces of colorful feathers or scales in the corner of her eye. She told her parents about these occurrences but they were mostly brushed off by her mother--though her father showed some concern. Nonetheless, she was reassured that it was nothing to worry about, and Xóchitl grew used to these strange happenings. But one day, while she was out running around doing some parkour, she accidentally tripped up and had a hard fall, resulting in her arms getting scraped up and oozing blood. In the midst of her pain, Xóchitl didn't even realize the large figure emerging from behind her. And when she did, she came face-to-face with a colorful serpent that seemed to be looking at her expectingly. Shell shocked, Xóchitl wasn't sure how to react at first, but the look of the serpent brought about a feeling of familiarity within her. This serpent looked like Quetzalcoatl, and she convinced herself that it was--that he had shown himself in front of her for some unknown reason. Surprised and more excited than scared, Xóchitl ran back home to tell her parents about the ancient deity that came to her.

Her mother seemed thrilled at the news, convinced that it was indeed their deity and that he had come to fulfill Xóchitl's prayer for protection. Her father however, didn't believe that to be the case. In fact, it prompted more concern from him as he began to thoroughly question his daughter's strange experiences, trying to figure out when it all started. It was at that point that Xóchitl finally confessed that the golden arrow down at their alter broke on the day of her quinceñera and that she accidentally cut herself with it--thus prompting the start of the strange visions. This immediately grabbed her father's attention as he revealed that the serpent may not be Quetzalcoatl at all, but rather, a Stand. His knowledge about Stands was very limited however, so he struggled to explain what they were and how they came from the arrow. What he did know--and what Xóchitl came to realize--was that it came from within her, and that it served to protect her. This revelation was jarring but also raised several questions within Xóchitl's mind. She questioned her Stand's origins, it's similar looks to the ancient Quetzalcoatl, and most importantly, why it revealed itself when she got hurt and accidentally spilled some blood. So from that day onward, she spent her time trying to reach out and connect to this Stand of hers, and come to learn about all its abilities. By the time she discovered what it truly was, Xóchitl had chosen to name her colorful serpent 'Imagine Dragon.'

2nd Stand Awakening

Xóchitl spent the next year of her life in peace with her new Stand ability, but across the world, a new threat came into power. The Spanish Mafia, whom Xóchitl's father used to be a part of, was now under new leadership. The old boss was overthrown by a 21 year old man named Luciano Fernandez. Like the old boss, Luciano also wanted to get his hands on a Stand Arrow. But besides gaining an army of Stand users, Luciano also wanted to gain something else. He wanted to gain a Requiem Stand. He knew of the "Requiem" form after reading about the events that transpired in Italy involving Diavolo being defeated by a mysterious boy who used the Stand Arrow. When he took over the Spanish Mafia, he was informed that there was a previous search for a Stand Arrow in Mexico, but it yielded no results and was eventually abandoned. Using his own Stand ability, Luciano realized that the possibilty of an arrow being in Mexico was very high. He once again sent Stand users to Mexico to search for the arrow, and he wouldn't let them come back until they got results. This unknowingly marked the beginning of Xóchitl and Luciano's shared fate.

⇩ the following paragraphs are short summaries of what happens next to finish off Xochitl's backstory, they will be rewritten later ⇩

Xóchitl is scared, but her father reassures her; with his wife's permission he brings out the broken arrow from the underground altar; he gives Xóchitl the beetle-shaped piece of the arrow to keep safe while he brings the rest of the broken pieces back to Spain; he planned to show his former boss the broken arrow so he would give up the search in Mexico; the beetle piece was the only piece able to give someone a Stand, so he left it with Xóchitl; he assured Xóchitl and his wife that he would come back safely because his former boss was a reasonable man; however, he was unaware that the old boss was replaced; he soon set sail for Spain, promising his family that he would return in 2 months and be in time for Xóchitl's birthday

Father's Death

Xóchitl's father explains the situation and shows Luciano the broken arrow; Luciano uses his Stand and determines that the arrow is real; disappointed, he decides to call off the search in Mexico; Xóchitl's father is relieved and thanks him, but Luciano doesn't let him go so easily; not only does Luciano want to bring a new era to the Spanish mafia, he wants to eliminate everyone from the previous one; without hesitating, Luciano shoots and kills Xóchitl's father just as he killed the former boss; he calls on his subordinates to dispose of the body

there are still old members in Spain who are hiding from Luciano; one of them is a friend of Xóchitl's father who still kept in contact with him; this friend witnessed Xóchitl's father being disposed of; once the henchmen left, he took his old friend's bandana that had fallen off him as his body was being dragged; out of respect, he decides to go to Mexico to tell his old friend's family what happened to him; on Xóchitl's 17th birthday, the friend finally finds Xóchitl's mother and tells her what happened; struck with grief, her mother takes her husband's bandana and decides to not tell Xóchitl the truth

it isn't until after Xóchitl's birthday that her mother finally talks to her; with a heavy heart, she lies and tells Xóchitl that her father got lost at sea and the police found his bandana in the ocean; Xóchitl is shocked and grief-stricken but holds hope that her father will be found soon; she takes his bandana and decides to wear it until he comes back, but that day would never come

The Prophecy

Years pass and Xóchitl is now 25. Quetzalcoatl speaks to Xóchitl in a dream (yes the actual Aztec God) and basically tells her the truth of what happened to her father. He tells her this because the man behind her father's murder (Don Fernandez) is becoming a threat to the world. He tells her it is her destiny to put an end to Don Fernandez because the Stand Arrow chose her. Xóchitl has been wearing the piece of the Stand Arrow as a ring for years, meaning she was worthy of using it for years already. Xóchitl wakes up, and knows what she dreamt was real.

She confronts her mother about how she lied to her all those years ago, but Xóchitl forgives her very quickly. She tells her mother the prophecy that Quetzalcoatl told her, and her mother understands. She gives Xóchitl the funds necessary to go find Don Fernandez, and they have a heartfelt goodbye. But before Xóchitl leaves, she takes her piece of the Stand Arrow and uses her Stand ability to transform it into a pair of earrings. She then takes a regular rock and transforms it into a fake beetle ring in order to protect the real thing.

Giorno Giovanna

[ Friend/Partner ] Xóchitl and Giorno didn't have the best impressions of each other when they first met, but they eventually became friends over time. Xóchitl spent months in Italy to prepare for her confrontation with Don Fernandez, and Giorno was beside her to help. They originally had a deal involving the Stand Arrow in order to work together, but that eventually ended when Giorno deemed Xóchitl strong enough to protect the Stand Arrow herself. After defeating Don Fernandez in a life or death battle, Xóchitl stayed in Italy for a little longer to tie up some loose ends. Giorno had been romantically interested in Xóchitl for a while now, but It took a while for Xóchitl to feel the same way. When she did though, she was the first one to awkwardly confess. They became a couple afterwards, and Xóchitl decided to stay in Italy to be with him.

Luciano R. Fernandez

[ Enemy ] Admittedly, Xóchitl's first encounter with Luciano was actually quite pleasant, but that was only because Xóchitl didn't know who he was at first. She didn't know what Don Fernandez looked like up until Giorno gave her a photo of him. After she found out, Xóchitl was dead set on taking him down regardless of her first impression of him. She was given the duty to defeat Luciano by Quetzoquoatal himself and she's determined to fulfill it for the sake of the future. Luciano was also responsible for the death of Xóchitl's father, along with hundreds more people, so Xóchitl also wants to get revenge. She despises Luciano greatly and will stop at nothing to fulfill her duty. The two were fated to be enemies.

Carmen De la Cruz

[ Friend ] Carmen was sent to Mexico by Luciano to be on the lookout for a certain Stand User. She ran into Xóchitl by chance and saw that she had a piece of a Stand Arrow. Realizing this was the Stand User Luciano was looking for, Carmen attacked Xóchitl with the intent to kill her. However, Xóchitl was able to overpower Carmen and asked her to join her side so they could defeat Luciano together. Carmen thought it was a ludacris plan, but she ended up agreeing when Xóchitl offered to help her escape the mafia. Over the span of a month at sea, they slowly opened up to each other and became friends. They were great battle partners and made up for each other's weaknesses. Xóchitl saw Carmen as her first close friend and kept in contact with her even after Luciano's defeat.
