Once a weather and fortune god who presided over a small town, Ajuba was stripped of his powers and form after he abused his abilities one too many times. Robbed of his powers and given only the forms of a human and small bird, Ajuba could not face his followers, and so he took up residency in a neighboring city. Having been capricious and fickle in his divine duties, his followers do not notice his absence; rather they assume Ajuba is up to his old tricks of withholding and giving with seemingly no cause.

Ajuba quickly achieves recognition in his city of choice, and although he no longer has the ability to influence the weather, he is able to convince others that he is a powerful being who merely took on human flesh so as to walk among his people. As his worshipers increase, so too does his fame, and the small town that he once guarded quickly hears the name of Ajuba being used in the city. When they inspect the source, they find a human going by the name of "Ajuba" in the temple. Not knowing that this human is their god, they cry blasphemy and are offended that a mere mortal would take on the name and credit of a god.
