Things to Keep in Mind When Drawing:

*Eastern dragon anatomy- Long, serpentine-like body with slender, flexible tail. Four claws on each limb. Legs are somewhat short compared to rest of body. Wings more similar to western-type dragons. Larger underbelly scales, body covered in smaller scales (which don't have to be drawn, unless it's a detailed piece). Fin-like ears and whiskers that end in tufts. Mane runs all the way down spine and flares out at the tip of the tail. Teeth poke out of mouth. Raised scales along lip and eye. Tufts of fur on elbows and hind legs. Horns split and have two ends, a very slight curve inwards. Mane is lighter yellow near the skin and darker as it flares out.

ATLA : Dragons AU

In this alternate universe, there were more than just two dragons left alive on the Sun Warrior island. Still highly endangered due to hunting, there was a few clutches of eggs left. In order to preserve the species, the dragons were dispersed in small colonies to remote areas where their numbers could rebound safely.

Backstory

Ranaak's egg was separated from the clutch. Akio, an outsider, washed ashore and stumbled upon the egg. Even before they hatch, dragons are highly intelligent creatures. Ranaak bonded with Akio, and hatched just in time to save his new companion from being killed for trespassing. After a few years, Ranaak and Akio set off on a mission to preserve the next generations of dragons by transporting new clutches to remote locations around the world.
