Zael ★

Zael is part of a species which drastically changes depending on how they are born. If they are born with the light of the sun (which is named The Vigilante in this world), they develop wings. Like this, they are considered superior. But if they have an odd number of wings they are seen as malformed and are stripped of most of their rights and most of the time sacrificed.
Zael was forced to live secluded in a house in the grasslands, separated from the main city, with no way of interacting with others or participating in society.

Apart from being forced to live alone in the grasslands, he cannot speak. Everyone from this species is born with their mouth sealed, and it is opened when reached the age that their wings develop, but as he has an odd number of them, his mouth was never opened. Even so, he lives quite a comfortable (and boring) life, because his mother Era (which he only sees from afar) is from the higher aristocracy and sends him gifts and protects him from being sacrificed.
To pass time he enjoys collecting interesting things he finds in the grasslands, like different types of semi-precious stones and also keeping his property clean.

He meets Nephli by chance, a wingless humanoid who was secretly going out of the caverns to sunbathe from time to time and to collect materials. He was saved by him when the giant grasshoppers that live under the grasslands were attacking Zael.

Because of his lack of socialization, he is very gullible and easy to push around. Slowly, he learns to stand by himself and grows closer to Nephli, later they maintain kind of a platonic relationship. Together they look for a way to reconcile both of their races.
