Nephli ★

Nephli lives in the cavern cities, where the ones born at the night (Nocturnos) are exiled, there everything is quite humid, mainly because of the waves the Alados from the skyscrapers send there to drown them, wanting to reduce their numbers.

Everyone of this species is born with their mouth shut, and someone must open it. In his case, this procedure was done terribly by a drunk and unqualified medic, his mentor in the past, leaving him with a crooked mouth. Due to this accident, he felt inspired to study medicine more seriously, to bring better medical care to his people.

He has to study mostly by himself and sometimes practices operations on corpses. He also does simple procedures for free for anyone who goes to his house asking for help, because of this he is very well known in his community. But he used to lack the confidence to do any invasive surgery on someone alive.

Nephli knows sign language, and he sometimes uses it while speaking without noticing, he is always moving his hands very expressively. He learnt it from a group of Nocturnos at the caverns, but they are seen as a bit strange and secretive by the rest of their people, so as he got older he used it less and less.

He has the habit of going out to feel the sun (The Vigilante) on his skin, as he enjoys the warm sensation, while also looking for materials for his medicine. But this is a dangerous activity, as when The Vigilante sets, giant carnivorous grasshoppers come out of their secret burrows.

He meets Zael by chance when he was resting at the top of a rock in the grasslands and in the process saved him from being eaten by the giant grasshoppers. He feels very curious about Zael because of how odd he is, so he invites him to the caverns and offers to open his mouth.
He is hardworking and cares deeply about the people from the caverns, later including Zael in that group.
